I led out the 100s, which we hit.
Didn’t lead out the 200s, missed.
Didn’t lead out the first 300, missed.
Led out both 400s, missed the second one.
6 min 400”s…!!
God I’m a crap swimmer!!
Impressive set.
Did a very similar set last night: (2x100 medley, Drills, 3x100, 3x200, 3x400, 1x100) The 100’s and 200’s were just a couple of seconds slower then yours. However,I decided not to try to keep up on the 400’s (1:35/100) and swam them at 1:42/100 instead (and they became 350m rather than 400’s)
You know what, a few in my lane decided this plan of action, too.
I lapped a couple of them after 13 lengths.
To be fair, I was feeling quite good this morning, after a rest day yesterday and no alcohol or snacks.
NEW TOPIC
It is wet and snowing, again.
Yesterday, on my day in the office, it was dry as a bone, sunny and no wind.
Wounded isn’t the word.
Anyway, loving the confidence the PMC chart on TP is giving me:
Quite willing to skip a longer outdoor ride for where that is hovering at the minute
Had to ditch the ride into work today (see below). Went to gym early and did 1600m steady with rubber shorts instead. 1500m in 25:49 no warm-up. Will swim again at lunchtime.
Over-did-it with two weighted-runs last week, then did a hill session on Tue, followed by Zwift race Wednesday; all this has aggravated my old hernia repairs from 2007. I think the downhill running & grinding gears has flared it up. Not the first time.
2500m swim
3000m pull and paddles
Is that a 5.5km swim? (waiting for your reply to see if the post gets a like, or not)
Are you a sadist?
At least I held on just enough not to get lapped - couldn’t bear the shame
Yep.
Just get in, put the music on and swim.
The 2500m had some 2-5 seconds rests every 500m just to adjust googles and do the lap thingy on the 920XT as you have to press twice for a lap

Pretty even pace for the swim
I must have missed it, what are you training for with weighted runs? Fan Dance or similar?
What happened on the first 300?!
Our coach would be calling us out on those 100s. If the session was designed to get faster over the longer reps, then starting your 100s all a few seconds too fast would be a fail for him, especially if you then “missed” on the 200s etc.
First 100s: All me.
We’d had a 200m warm up and 4 * 50m drills before.
Usually, if alone, I’d do 4 * 50s at 45s, then 2 * 100s at 1:30 to get me used to what a 1:30/100 “feels” like.
In the absence of this, I had to use the first 2 * 100s to find that pace, which I’d found by the third.
200s: Swapped out to someone else leading it out.
Hit the first one, missed the second.
300s: Someone new led the first one out. 5s gap between swimmers.
I’d caught the lead out and swimmer #2 (I was third off) after 75m, so knew it was bad.
I stood up after about 150m and threw my arms up!
I then took over for the second rep, but overdid it, due to the massive rest from the first one.
400s: me, both times leading out.
Lapping people knocked seconds of my reps, both times, but I was cramping by the second 400 and tumble turns were hurting my inner foot and my hyper-extended finger decided to lock up (I often get ‘hand-ache’ whilst swimming)
Also if a coach called me out on anything, then I’d be inclined not to go to another session when there are:
I was meant to run 11km today but I didn’t sleep much, my back is aching, my heart isn’t in it and I’m waiting for a wardrobe to be delivered.
Humbly seeking TT’s permission to have a day off? Possibly involving Netflix later.
Day off granted
Correct. Fortunately not the loads I had to carry when I was in my 20s (full ‘CEMO’, personal wpn, 6 mags, 400rds for the Gimpy and if you were really lucky, the PRC351 as well).
Excellent, still keen on that event myself having missed it a while back with illness etc. Summer one is too close to my IM so might aim for Jan 21.
I’m hoping for a hot one; sort the wheat from the chaff
Quite bizarre brick today
