Training - What Training?!

I decided to run to work and back today as the gf is off atm, run home was horrible, legs were like lead, even stopped once and last 4K I slowed by about 29s per k.

Probably a few reasons but unpleasant all the same.

Aiming to do it again a couple of times in the coming weeks but might be shorter on the way home if I get a longer weekend run in.

You not racing this weekend …!?

Zerotaperhero?!?

Are you doing AEE’s version or the one run by that walt?

AEE. What’s the other one, SF experience?

Yeah. I went on a hill and navigation training day with AEE. They guy running it was ex SAS and he was saying the bloke who runs SF Experience turned up to selection and was gone in a couple of days. Selling a special forces experience having never been in it himself.

Ken who runs AEE nearly died in a climbing accident. Crawled 3 days off a mountain with a broken hip and other injuries. He wrote a book, worth a read.

Well, who hasn’t had a near-death mountaineering experience :grimacing: Mine was falling into the Fiescher Glacier; luckily the two other blokes held me (I was leading). That fucker would have swallowed a train; makes my stomach tight just thinking about it…it dropped away to total darkness.

Total Darkness there’s an idea

You want talk about darkness on the mountains. I walked up snowdon once and the fucking cafe was closed when I got there. No cake for fatty that day. Christ, I should write a book.

14km very wet and muddy road run. Really struggled. What with the DIY/ flatpack aches and redundancy stress, I probably should have stayed in bed

Had to walk up one hill I usually run up without issue. Ended up with 5.44 pace.

51lms run for the week.

Well done FP. Getting it done, and all that!

Cheers mate. Don’t mind admitting I’m doing it a bit tough right now. TBH I wish the bloody marathon was next week. Looking for a job and jumping through the interview/presentation hoops gets very draining. I’d rather concentrate on one thing or the other.

Yeah, can’t be easy. Maybe dial the running back a bit and use it as headspace time rather than ā€˜training’?

You need to listen to your head: definitely focus on one thing! The job is important, the marathon is not.

I had the entire week without any exercise due to work commitments and then formally resigning to change roles on Friday. I was empty all week and needed the energy to be on work stuff. I didn’t run yesterday as I was exhausted. Today… meh!

Yeah good advice mate. Taken a rest day today. After March 13 my job is looking for a job. I’ve been down this road before and I know it takes a toll.

16 hours or just under…
One very long static
Kept my core and boxing up
Sub 20 5k off a very low ( for me) hr.
one swim… one hour.

Finished today with 20.49 kms … quite hilly, and very windy, bit of mud involved… yuk…
but 1:40 or just under and av hr 143…

A good week.

Amazingly a 1:21 half marathon off no run training. Thought I’d at least have a 24hr taper, but actually ended up with my coach putting in a c2hr turbo session yesterday.

Can’t complain with that. Did it the hard way too, after originally saying I’d just cruise round in 1:25-1:30, and then at the last minute deciding there was nothing to be lost by giving a pb a shot. Was ahead of the curve for about 8-10k, and then I was in a world of hurt for the next 40+ minutes. 15-20k was slower than my average pace in Malaga, but happy I at least didn’t fall of a cliff!
