He is “ not having it “

Saw two “ Chester triathlon club “ tops at Oulton last weekend … stick at it !

That is too high. May 60? Just off mental maths and being a bit generous.

Garmin needs correct weight for each activity (people under estimate this and dont enter daily weights, which it needs to be within the 5% claimed in the white paper)

It also requires a ‘real’ maximum heart rate not an estimate (from a formula or a hard effort plus/minus a bit)

Advised him to go to a lab
Google says 58 when he puts his latest stats in

That sounds about right to me.

20 minute 5k guy:

VO2max 69 guy:

To be fair, guess there are valid reasons why someone with a VO2 of 69 might only run 20 minutes. They were not trying very hard, they were pushing a buggy (triplets), it was uphill, the course was boggy, they had an injury, they are an olympic handcyclist & their running-specific VO2max is much lower etc etc

Suspect on this occasion his watch is telling porkies though

Gym first thing.

1.5k on the rowing machine.
2 sets each of banded clamshells, banded and weighted bridges, kettlebell sumo squats, kettlebell deadlifts, bench press, military press, ab cycle.

Long run this morning and tried to run slower than last week. I failed. But was very happy with how it went. Maybe I should just ease back with two weeks till London. It’s looking like I will make the start line at this rate.

Just to highlight this again - he has his own gas exchange equipment so what does that say?

We’re assuming running but he could be testing any activity.

My Garmin shows my bike vo2 because I’m biking more than running. He could be testing on a ski erg…

I am fucked. 10km race tomorrow

It was fun ride, first as a club member, a social 100km…

I detonated at 80km :collision:then I was a slow rolling bin fire way off the back.

I am woefully under prepared for club riding, nice steady workouts in clear zones. I saw 350-450W flashing up on the very first climb and knew it was going to be a hard day . Basically every set off was at anaerobic effort levels then settling into my five minute vo2max

Very friendly folk, I shall prepare better next time. :man_student:

He doesn’t actually have the vo2 testing stuff
He’s been in the lab and paid .. previously, but then got a lot fitter.

I did it years ago on a watt bike type thingy with the mask monitors etc
57? But that’s a guess it was years ago

Yeap.

Club riding will do that.

Good for you though… welcome to the real world and no blue blocks… although I love blue blocks in the winter.

Yeah, I did 32.25km with 5km at M pace, I questioned if it was wise but if fit you recovery quick. I say fit, is relative to your peak and/or the load you’ve recently undertaken. I’m not that fit but have being recovering well from the sessions I have been doing.

I did a 35k odd ride to the club ride this morning, was running a bit late so pushing on, but not hard to see where my solo ride ends and the group ride starts.
