Were you playing tennis
With my calf ?!?
Got the gas fire man coming round this morning and I wanted to get a 10 mile run in so early doors for me. Out the house just before 6am and ticked the miles off and kept the pace nice and easy. I think now I’ll just tick over with some easy running (ignoring parkrun tomorrow) and try not to hurt myself before next weekend.
I can feel the recent increase in miles in my legs. Will be interesting to see what happens at 20 miles and beyond on ‘race’ day.
I see your 6am, @funkin and raise you being in the gym at 5am.
2k rowing warm up.
2 sets of bench press, military press, lateral raises, bicep curls, side planks, ab cycle, deadlifts.
I see your 6am @APM and raise you a 04:30 - being woken by an almighty kitten ripping racket and letting the cat out. Put on about two hours of marathon training podcasts to get back to sleep.
Rest day to day I think, picking up bike from the shop and family coming over later for a walk in the woods.
Took Mrs T out for her last tempo run before London - she smashed it and is feeling great
My first run since SDW50 - felt really good and like I could have kept going all day at that pace
Wedding anniversary today so off to Ivy Asia shortly to undo all of the good work
Yesterday easy 6k run
Today 21k Dragonsback recce, wet and windy
Little bit of everything today, 50K ride with a few hills, and 2K steady after. Then got to the pool for 25 minutes but it was closing early.
And a fairly painful massage!
Another early gym session.
Rowing, 2 x 5 minutes.
2 sets each of banded clamshells, banded and weighted bridges, kettlebell sumo squats, kettlebell goblet squats, kettlebell deadlifts, seated calf raises.
14k guided Dragonsback recce over Tryfan and the Glyders.
Shorter 60km +1000m club ride, decided to pace all the climbs rather than hold wheels, and survived fine.
Up early, 45 minute spin class.
Happy Easter everyone!
Dont normally frequent this thread as my training is very hit or miss. Got manchester marathon in a week, but did a @FatPom and pulled my back a few weeks ago, did 2 12 mile runs last week two days apart and now on holiday in tenerife, so hired a bike for a day and went up the volcano, as you do. Swimming and a couple of short runs in the next few days. Still struggling with my knees so hoping for a sub-5 hour run next week (4.45 is my target). Hoping i can get through it and will then consider an IM later in the year.
3hr (ish) 65km (ish) gravel ride.
Bone dry here, so did Laureens Ride loop, which is usually too muddy.
It’d be nice for a silly FKT
16hrs 38mins this week
As per the confessions thread I went to do the local 5K Sunday morning run, it’s fairly low key but a nice park with about 40 runners\walkers with a 2K option as well. 3 loops of the park.
Wanted a fairly hard effort to test the leg and probably my last run until Saturday.
Two of us got to the front and I was sat just behind him, there was a little climb about 2/3rds round the loop where I’d generally go past him but usually eased back on the top. I did get slightly in front with about 1.5k to go but he closed up again and I had a little dig on the last climb knowing he’d probably get me in a sprint as he looked about 20 years younger!
Anyway, I didn’t get enough distance and when it flattened with about 300m to go he put a burst in and I knew I wasn’t hanging on
Good fun though and we’d been pushing each other most of the way.
Will get out on my bike soon as well.
About 10 hours this week with 2 hours of swimming nearly 6 on the bike with a lot being outside but the TTT on Tuesday was a hard effort.
Just over 2 hours of mostly very easy/flat running, the hard 5K as above this morning.
Easy few days coming up, will do a bit of swimming and an easy Zwift, and not sure if I’ll be needed for the Zwift race on Tuesday, I think we’re in one of the finals but yet to be confirmed and I’m hoping I won’t be required otherwise it’s another (painful) wooden spoon
14k “run”, more of a scramble and hike - Snowdon Horseshoe
4hrs this week
A bit rubbish but it was a recovery week after SdW50 and work was a bit shit
Back at it next
Up early, in the gym again.
2k row.
2 sets of bench press, military press, lateral raises, banded bridges, sumo squats, deadlifts.
