10 minute tempo run.
30k gravel, 2 hours, in Riemore Estate north of Dunkeld, Perthshire. I got a bit lost so average speed was a bit embarrassing. Itâs a beautiful area. Might repeat the loop later in the week now I know the way.
AR30 - Active Recovery (Cotswold Classic V2)
30 minutes (140w)
My god long runs are miserable affairs. 1h50. I was hoping for a lighting strike death after about five minutes. This didnât change.
1350kcal on a crumpet and a SIS gel
Just over an hour for 10km with 344m of vert
Just me and the dog
Decided to cut the run short (dog miserable)
Immediately stopped raining when we got home and hasnât rained since
Saturday am 6k easy run

After the DNF yesterday I decided to get out for a trail run this morning just for the pleasure of running instead of any thoughts about training etc., so 20K on a route I havenât done for a good few months on the moors, enjoyed it as well. Just about stayed dry as well.
Other than that a poor week really, probably about 5 hours as I was recovering from last weekend and trying to freshen up for yesterday
Not sure about next week, due to give blood on Tuesday so if that goes ahead it will be steady stuff for a week or two, maybe some endurance rides.
After a day off yesterday, managed a 4.5km run followed by 2 sets of db arnold curls, kb deadlifts, kb thrusters.
40 minutes. Wiped out.
Got back last night from 6 days on the tandem. We rode everywhere.
Reckon we covered about 300km with 2000m of vert, which probably doesnât seem like much over a week, but legs feel like they have had a proper workout.
Itâs the hills that are the killer. Bike + bags + riders weigh about 160kg, which is about double what Iâm used to hauling around. Standing up out of the saddle doesnât work so well on the tandem, and Mrs FT didnât like the cadence going above about 70-80rpm (and as stoker, was in prime position to tell me about it by slapping my bum). So each hill a massive low gear seated effort.
We only had to get off and push once, but this probably says more about the gear ratios than our combined fitness. Also managed to transport a large potted hydrangea back from the garden centre as a gift to our hosts.
Anyway, overall it was a great way to travel & we are still talking to each other.
9.5 hours !
Boo!
3 complete rest days ( or should I say painting days!) sessions had more quality though
Best man at my brothers wedding today so crappy start to the week training wise
He hasnât drunk for a year and is â lively â when drunk ⌠out round Chester later
What could possibly go wrong ?!
30km ride this morning. Nice and steady.
70 min trot that was a bit of a disaster. 3 nights of terrible sleep and then under fuelled. Wobbly old few miles!
Got out for a nice easy run; and enjoyed some of that sky water stuff too. Made for quite pleasant conditions for once!
Starting to enjoy my running again; but I am going slower than I used to. I mean of course thatâs to be expected with age and lack of volume, but iâm not a patient man. Just need to try to tick things up steadily, remain consistent and donât get (easily) duped into some sort of stupid run that will reverse my progress!!
Sorry - I have bugger all sympathy for this statement coming from you
Haha - itâs all relative though, eh?!
Run commute to work - meant to be 30 mins at tempo pace in the middle of the hour or so
Failed - so humid out there - felt drained - got even more humid after 30 mins when the skies opened
Hopefully the run home will be easier
45 minute spin class. Sweaty AF.
Monday am 16k easy run with zl
Monday pm 30mins strength training
Tuesday am 6k easy run with zl
Tuesday am/pm 2* 4k bike commutes
95km bike. Pretty hilly and hard first half and then proceeded to blow up after the coffee stop.
