Training - What Training?!

Got out for a nice steady ride after work on another nice evening, 53k.

Then, maybe one for the rant thread but my power meter that I only charged earlier in the week thinks I put out 853W AP :exploding_head: it doesn’t normally need calibrating so hope it isn’t on the fritz as I doubt it’s under warranty.

So of course Garmin & Strava think I’ve put in some monster effort despite my HR firmly being in Z1

Lessons in humility at the moment. :face_with_diagonal_mouth:

2 x 2km, 2r, 1 x 1km, 4r, 1 x 500m

Set out to do 3 x 2km, but target pace was obvs a tad optimistic.

Was running neg split kms in the reps but blew on the last rep, so bailed on the final 1km. Sat down, had a word with myself and ran a hard 500m to finish things.

So so far from where I was 2 years ago or so. Guess a bit of patience is required in your 40s! Deffo not my forte!

Even used the vapors to try to protect the legs a bit. But this lower leg thing really needs sorting - left foot totally numb again. Not ideal!

Anyway. Onwards

Uni assignments all done, and starting to put a little run of training together. First 10hr week for 18 months, 4x rides 2x runs and a swim.

Plus 3x 9hr weeks prior. Mostly easy but all have had a bike threshold session that are at least building back up, and couple decent runs.

Better week than I expected in the end due to the failed blood donations, about 9.5 hours.

All at an easy\steady pace except for the Zwift race which wasn’t quite flat out.

Couple of rides outside which meant nearly 5 hours of cycling. About 3.5 of running with today, and 3 token effort swims.

Hopefully get a bit more in this week, have to take my last day of A\L before Friday but might see about 2 half days and get the bike out for an afternoon.

Much better than recent weeks - 11.5 hrs mainly helped by almost 4 hr run today

Much more consistent- pleased with that

Crept over 6 hours last week, a miracle for me, most in 2 years (must have entered a race).

Week in the homelands of Cornwall started off with an hour easy trot around Loe Bar.

30 minute spin class first thing.

Very hard. Spent the rest of the day tired AF.

Couped up in a car most of the day, so nice to get out for a 30k spin on the bike in the last of the sunshine. Felt good.

I’ve had an entire week off - absolutely nothing in the last seven days. I did do two days of gruelling diy and a bit of walking here and there but I haven’t looked at the Garmin and Strava once. Genuinely enjoyed it. One last evening off then out for a run tomorrow I think.
