Training - What Training?!

But you stopped for selfies and goodness knows what else; can we call that a real Ironman training ride

A coffee, meat and potato pie and a wee.
18 minutes and 13 seconds.

I also uploaded a selfie to here and called my wife to let her know I was alive (she wasn’t a fan of the course when we drove it last month)

You rushed a pie?! :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

I’ve got three brothers food never lasted long on the table in our family.

ShortAF parkrun this morning.
About 250m short :face_with_symbols_over_mouth::triumph:

3:46/km :sob::sob::sob:

Not looking good for next weekend.

12km very easy run. Not much energy involved, 5.48 pace.

55km for the week, which given I didn’t run on Sun or Thurs, I’ll take that.

Second test run in the ninja suit today at Parkrun

Mile warm up
23:31 even pace
5 min cool down

Sorted a couple of issues from last time
Still a bit of running on one toe, so attempting to stretch the tabi out a bit

At that pace, I’m hoping it’s hero in a half shell, rather than black Lycra

I actually rode the bike outside today! Bit of an aimless wander in what seemed like a constant headwind but was fairly tired so I’ll take it.

Don’t think I could even walk that slow in any costume I have.
Some of the guys do have the 1990 TMNT get ups.
They enjoy pouring the sweat out after they’ve been in it for an hour or so

The key issue with it is the balaclava. You can’t get air in

I’m not sure what’s going on with me but everything is aching, I’ve had two rest days in the last week and still feel very fatigued. There is a lot going on mentally obviously with this being my last week at work but I’m just not feeling it.

I’m listening to my body but I don’t like what its saying! (and I hope I’m not looking for excuses).

Well, we’re all different, but in my case, a few days after being made redundant, and all the difficult stuff that goes with that, like going home and telling your partner, I came down with a heavy cold. Stress has a huge impact on your immune system. After years of tracking my resting HR, I can now see it coming… it knocks the crap out of my training.

I’ve got another cold now… recovering fortunately… here’s my RHR over the last few days… cold hit Tues night… training seemed tougher than usual from Sunday eve.

Don’t think you’re experiencing anything that is other than completely normal

Cheers mate. The overall plan was for a light week this week then 3 x 80km weeks then 2 week taper before Newport.
Only concern is my proper last long run was 30km 3 weeks ago.
The mental gymnastics of everything is challenging though.

Ended up going for a family walk in Micheldever forest. Not much of a training benefit but a pretty good mental one.

When you think you’ve had a good week…check the leaderboards for your two real life clubs and one virtual one…then see the leaders have all been abroad :sob::sob::sob:

15hrs 40mins for me this week.
I SWAM AT 1830!!!
Currently on 97CTL.
1,003 TSS for the week

Swim: 4 times. 2hrs 40mins, 10km
Bike: 4 times. 2hr TT Ride, indoor 40mins spin, 5hr IMUK TT bike loop, 3hr easy 50 miler.
Runs: 5 runs. 2.5hrs 35km. CTL is +6 on this time last year. parkrun on Saturday wasn’t great, but still quicker than last year (a week before the half marathon)
Don’t feel as fast as I did last year, but I’ve done lots of runs of over an hour, whereas last year I did one 8-9 mile run in the lead up.

Taper week coming up

A touch over 13 hours including a proper race… outside!

2 x sub 20 5ks on treadmill
A few hours at zone 2 bike… static
2x swims, one drill session.

And Firefighters 2 up duathlon …

6 mins faster than last year with a buckled tyre…

Small lump appeared in tyre after sheephouse descent… thank god!

Knock, knock… knock.
Over 25 mph it was quite unnerving …!
Once I realised it wasn’t going to pop … just got on with it. Strange…!

That trail run is brutal.

that’s a solid week mate, well done. Taper week? what’s coming up?

I’ve been bloody knackered all week then topped it off with a 600ml blood dump yesterday. BUT i’m still going for a swim tonight, albeit easy. Go for a swim @Poet you know it makes sense. think i’m going to do a few 100’s off 1:45
