Training - What Training?!

It’s all uneven cobbles/ mud/ trails/ gates/ and always wet too…

We hit the run hard and managed 10.56 kph…!?

Bike went well, but my partner was too strong for me… he’s really improving.

Foggy and Cullen broke the course record I think ?

Quiet week after a week off due to work stress and general low energy. Managed 5 runs, for a total of 32 miles, plus a 3 hour road ride (best guess was IF around 0.75, but no power or HR to know for sure).

I am still fighting something, so getting a steady amount in is still a win. Just need to recover, and soon I have 2 weeks off between jobs to really hit the training hard!

6.5k flat out run on the treadmill yesterday, followed up by a hard 11k outdoor hilly run today. No calf problems, and stuck to 7 minute miles… so pleasing!

9hrs 2mins for me this week after losing 3 days to a stinking cold.

5 x bike
1 x run
1 x swim

Back on it next week!

Legs are ruined today. Full gambit of strength & fitness tests yesterday, from max squat and bench press, through numerous hops/jumps, core tests (I’m not sure I have one!) finishing with sprints and the “death run”
If my experience of DOMS is anything to go by, tomorrow may be worse🥴

Reasonably good week for me at last, although my ankle is a bit sore, mostly the calf.

Managed just over 10 hours I think.

Main part was 3 hours on the fells today checking out the route for a race next week, I decided to skip most of the first bit as I mostly know it but only save about 500m! Nice route with some decent fell action, was surprised how dry it was.

Also managed reps on Tuesday which felt terrible.

4 bikes, including one on a real bike and without stabilisers

2 swims, would have liked another but ran out of time.

Fairly pleased with that apart from the right ankle, I’ll need to be careful with that.

When you are a bit fatigued mentally you physically fatigue a lot quicker, and are more likely to pick up germs.

Hope you are feeling a bit better soon, it can take a few weeks to get over.

Just snuck over 15hours

3 days bike commuting and 3 turbo sessions for 9 hrs 42. Nearly rode outside today but opted for the lie-in. Tragic really that 7:30 is currently a lie-in!

4 days running for 45km and 3 hrs 42. Like @Poet next week I’ve got a half marathon next Sunday - Fleet half mara. Really excited about this and keen to see how I go.

3 swims for 1hr 35. Nothing exciting just ticking over nicely :v:t2:

Another 55km week for me, but this time including two sessions. My ill fated reps on Thurs and an accidental tempo tonight, just under 13km at 4.04/km pace. All done on feel as my GPS was proper pissed, and coming out with nonsense times.

Weird how I felt better running for almost an hour at just over 4s today on a rolling course (just under 15m per km elevation avg) than I did struggling for 3km at 3.45/50s on the flat on Thurs!

Legs are a bit sore and the ankle/shin/achilles thing is a bit stiff. Stretch, roll and strength session tmw night for me.

10.5hrs last week.

X 3 bikes with a couple of turbo sets and my first tt of the season, with a ride out and back to make up my 3 hr ride.

Only 1 swim. Didn’t get my second one in owing to a lack of planning and a couple of late nights at work.

X2 runs. Unfortunately I’ve gone and got myself injured, just when running was starting to feel really good. I’ve aggravated my right hip and stupidly tried to run on it yesterday for a long run. Broke down at 5 miles and had to call for a lift home. Looks like it’s going to be a couple of weeks off running.

2 Swims - 2 hrs - 4570m
4 Bikes - 4 hrs - 109km (4 days commuting - 2hrs - 44km)
1 Run - 38mins - 6km.
1:40 of various fitness tests - not continuous activity though, fair bit of hanging around in that.
Missed a couple of run sessions but still a decent week overall with 10hrs including commuting and fitness testing - still managed to put weight on. What is it they say “You can’t out train a bad diet”

Easy hour on the static bike, massively elevated HR (usually 150W, 100rpm, for 110bpm - today was 142bpm!)

My wife has a “cold” (but works with people who travel internationally, regularly, for business)

I am not going to be happy if I develop some mild symptoms just before my race.

I used to get sick of seeing people on Spring training camps on FB; don’t really see it now at all. People have either stopped doing it or I have unfriended triathletes that do at some point.

Of course ‘Savaloy’ now just posts about West Ham and pubs instead

I think people have become more savvy to the tech…

…as in, it’s not a great idea to post that you’re in Lanzarote and your house is empty, with more high value bikes at home to steal.

Strava has also moved more into “social,” so you can annoy your Strava frenemies and not your colleagues/family/friends-before-exercise-took-over-your-life on the Book of Faces.

But…WhatsApp now appears to the sharing medium of choice.

Sounds like there’s some great training at the right time now.

3 weeks of 12 hours for me which is peak I’ve done. CSS 650, I’m weak, don’t know how you guys are managing >1000! :joy:
Have done a 6 week run focus and built up to peak ever distances, Z2 speed feeling much easier. Likely just want to maintain/slight progression now, and switch back to focusing on progressing the bike for the next 3 months.

I’ve not just been on a spring training camp in Lanzarote, honest

True, although most people still post holiday stuff when they’re away. I know what you mean about FB; I never have FB friends in the work place. In fact I think I have just over 100 in total, and that’s probably more than enough for me.

Just looked - 112 Friends, of which only 2 I’ve never met in person: one is an American girl I was a pen-pal with in the 80s, the other is Leahnp from here.

8km ‘hilly’ treadmill. 5.36 pace
