Training - What Training?!

How long is a piece of string?

Looking at my training log and wondering what is a good weekly TSS to a) be in reasonable shape and b) prepare for a 70.3?

The ones over a minute felt more like vo2 and hard, the sprints felt fine.

Yeah yeah…

Length is overrated. Girth for the win.

The two late nights finally got me despite two naps today.

Couldn’t face anything where the suffering was too long.

10-11 structured hours ?

Yeah, I’m not close to that. At 7 hours ish right now. The longer bike is where it adds up faster, better weather will help with that.

not sure if it is just a age thing( or am just a soft fecker), i used love racing week after week i started the new year with that approach for 2026 my goal was to do one race a month , got covid straight after new year had a few weeks struggling , got back to regular training but seem to have lost all motivation to pin a number not done one race yet and ment to be running this weekend and sacked it off even though feel like i getting fitter .

It’s a combination of both.

If you believe the Central Governor as well, it’s your body saying it doesn’t want you “hurting” yourself so possibly doing things to put you off.

I’m struggling to run outside or sort my bike out to do the same.

Should really do Parkrun tomorrow to see where I am progress wise, but the motivation ain’t there

ParkRan

4x4mins at vo2. For some reason my watch used heart rate targets rather than pace which was a bit of a surprise.p when the repeat came up. I’ve never tried to get my hr to 178 before.

TE was supposed to be 2,8 and 2.2 I think.

Paces were faster than the 5:07 it had shown before the run started.

Might be a bit shagged for the threshold bike later…

And now LTHR shows I’ve gained +5bpm to my LTHR and +3W since Feb 7th.

Imagine if I ran a bit more…

Needed to go to Mum’s so dragged myself to Parkrun

Managed a whole 12 seconds faster after 3 months of training, but under 21 for a 20:56

Cheeky Royal Flush which is good for me as mile 2’has an extra uphill bit

Garmin needs to stop drinking though

Went for a run in the Quantocks with Mrs FT this morning. It was super misty. Had intended a short out and back but got completely lost in a forest descending from the highest point. Ended up coming out near a village about 3km from where the car was parked. I didn’t have my watch or phone, but we asked some dog walkers who pointed us in the right direction.

Had promised her a gentle 5km but we ended up doing closer to 10 muddy km with 350m elevation, so she was not best pleased.
