Training - What Training?!

I did 2*2k around 4:30/K pace, used to be 70.3 pace about 3 years ago, 2 reps was hard enough today.

Was wheezing a bit as well.

Biked again. Thought I’d struggle with the saddle sore, but contrary to belief, the drugs do work and after about 90 mins the pain subsided.

Bit windier out today, so slower speed but higher power

4hrs 6mins - 212W

You’ve had a really busy Easter - how many hours have you clocked over the two weeks?

I always found that lots of chamois crème even with a sore helped massively.

Went swimming. First time this year. Probably first time in the last 12 months too (other than farting about with the family). 400 metres multitude of inelegant strokes. Daughter managed a split 100 metres with about a minute between lengths which was very good going for her (6 yo).

Was trying to hit at least 21 hours each week, but last weeks bike drama destroyed my motivation and 2 hours on the turbo was the most I could manage

This week I will have hit it, but need to extend the rides over the next few weeks to be triple digits.

Have done 3 x 50 (ish) 62 and 72 over the last 6 days.

Today was the best I’ve felt for a while and got stronger towards the back end

I coated my arse with it today

Now there’s a post that requires context, don’t you think @APM , had to scroll up to check we weren’t talking about peanut butter or something. It is Saturday night after all.

Had a cracking ride across Dorset on the TT bike today to see my BIL’s brass band play. 212W, 61km. 30kmh tail wind the whole way although did get hailed on at one point.

Mrs FT drove me home so headwind completely avoided.

Really loving Di2, late to the game but think manual shifters are now dead to me forever.

5k bike to get 30kph out 212w with at tailwind… you might want to reconsider!

How very dare you… it was nearly 6k

(30kmh was the speed of the wind, not me)

Ah, good point, so what 75minutes?

I was supposed to do another audax today, this time 116k with quite a lot of climbing as it disappeared into Northumberland and the Pennines. Got up to go and do it but was feeling lethargic on the way along with my shoulder being sore, knee was also a bit tight, and more importantly it was cold, windy and rain forecast for at least 3 hours.

I was rapidly talking myself out of it despite turning up on time. So I told the bloke I wasn’t doing the full distance and decided to go and do the parkrun I mentioned on that thread.

But I was determined to do something so headed back to the start of the ride, got changed and got my bike out. I’d spotted a few bailout options and after a fight with my Garmin which didn’t upload the route correctly got on my way. It was hard work, heavy road surface, relentless headwind and very few flat bits.

Bizarrely after about 35K someone came up behind me, turns out it was one of the lads from the office who does live near there, how random to meet him there. This was also where I was planning to take a short cut so we cycled together for a while until he turned back towards home and I carried on about 3K to pick up the original route back to the finish.

In the end I still did 68K with over 1K climbing so not a bad day out. AP was 180W, NP was 212W, it was mostly a 3 hour fartlek!

Feeling it a bit now, and the shoulder was sore towards the end due to the poor surface and climbing. Glad I didn’t do the extra ~50k as it would have been about 2 hours more!

Back on the treadmill today so easier to control fluids and carbs.

9:10 / 0:50 run:walk. Had to leg it to the toilet 80 minutes in.

Knee got a bit tight, so stopped before it became too much of an issue.

2 hours 50 mins bringing the total to 22hrs 15min this week

That was harder than expected…again.

Will try to do it before park run on Saturday, see if that works better.

Struggling but must be doing something right as I’ve just sneaked into Superior

I’ve always had the suspicion you are unbalanced, picture confirms it HRV

Another fairly solid week despite a full rest day.

Just over 6 hours of cycling which was dominated by the longer ride yesterday but also included the Zwift TT on Tuesday.

Getting on for 3 hours of running albeit the run on Monday did have a couple of walk breaks.

They added up to just over 9 hours. I also did a 2 hour hike today over the moors, so a bit of time on my feet.

Likely to be a bit lower next week, back at work and need 2 days off before a blood test on Friday, mentioned on another thread!

Unfortunately or fortunately depending on your viewpoint I don’t think I’ll be swimming any time soon, shoulder is still pretty painful from the fall 3 weeks ago, tried 2 strokes in the hydropool yesterday and was wincing.

Getting nervous now about it as races get closer!
