40 minute slow and steady treadmill run.
Just a 4 hour ride today Felt ok for the first 90 minutes or so and then just descended into fatigue.
Given it’s the end of a 6 week block with only 2 days off, it’s hardly surprising
Will do one more 3hr ride in the morning, then a final 2hr on Tuesday before engaging super taper mode for the 28th
Longest ride of the year 138km with 1450m
Great for 3 hours, then terrible. Hoping I get a fitness bump though, did like being out in the countryside in the sun.
I also got very wet in the saddle today. Wife wouldn’t come near me after the race though so I went and dipped in the lake to cool off.
Dragged myself out of bed for one last ride before the taper starts on Weds
Zero energy. Got rained on. Still a good Z2 ride though.
Just the 5 miles straight home after work as there was no need to dig the hole any deeper
25 minute threshold treadmill run. 10 minutes of weights.
Absolute sweat box.
Were you wet after?
VERY.
My Garmin training readiness had me at 1 today
so I managed a 10 minute swim and go in the hyrdo pool, then 30 minutes very easy on Zwift this evening.
I actually did 11 hours last week despite being away and feeling rough at the start of the week, primarily as I got 2 outdoor rides including the TT. I did get about an hour of swimming as well, so not a bad week overall.
Gym first thing.
Dragged myself out of bed and out for my final “run”
Definitely a good session to prepare me for the misery of the marathon next weekend.
Not sure why my Garmin is over-reading my HR at the start of runs.
Taper mode now fully engaged
Looks like Bongo has inspired fruity into madness ![]()

Makes me look lazy
Yes, What the… is that all about?
Probably sleeping it off, so a while to find out the inspiration. ![]()
Good idea getting it done early, it is as muggy as the fires of hell with water thrown on them now (and at lunchtime)
Here comes a Strawberry.
absolutely knacked

edit and of course Mr Tunster and Doug… there’s a lot of it about isn’t there?
more later, I’m on social duty now
Oohh what do we have here…
Bosh - good work!
So the plan was to run from Canary Wharf to Walton on Thames (52km) with #1
In the end we encountered an impassible barrier at km 48 in the form of the Swan at Sudbury on Thames, so called it a day there. (We did later complete the final 4km on foot, it would be generous to call it running though)
Really enjoyed it, amazing to transition from the city to the posh areas to the parklands to the 'burbs. Thames path was fantastic.
I felt great until Richmond on Thames at 31km but made the rookie error of chugging a litre of caramel latte milkshake and 750mls of Lucozade from Tesco’s, they formed an unholy alliance in my digestive tract and threatened to come back for much of the next 17km, which put the brakes on substantially.
