Just over 12 for me, but padded by the long run on Monday, and despite a full day off on Tuesday after a long day in the office. But quite a bit more intensity this weekend.
4 hours of running in total, 6 on the bike but only 2 of swimming. The swimming was a lot of short sessions and one of about 45 minutes.
Need to start easing back and I’m away next weekend so won’t be doing much. Could do with some more swimming though.
The long sessions and bike suffered the most last week, except the long swim 3000m+.
Every time I had a bike session I was feeling particularity bad. Easy to see this when you look at the sessions in list view.
Thailand not distracting me too much and a proper sports massage every 3 days . No sex for 7 quid obviously helps
One very hard hour were I tried to run at hyrox race pace and some nasty exercises in between the 1 k efforts in the hottest gym in the world . Av hr 168! Pretty crap really
The rest was the usual stuff .. lots of breaststroke swimming ?!
Due to a migraine when I woke up I only ended up with an easy hour on the bike at the walklway where I normally do the parkrun, probably classes as gravel, and a short swim later.
Did something crazy. A little serendipity mixed with a @joex
Went for a run whilst mini GB was swimming, but my watch is still non responsive. Decided I’d go semi naked. Went to start the Strava on my phone as I had my waist pack and conduction headphones, but then paused. And thought fuck it. Cancelled strava, put some tunes on and off I went.
I reckon that’s the first time I’ve (deliberately) ran without any recording device of any sort since 2012!!
Was sort of mind blowingly liberating. Also enjoying not having any step counts or sleep scores or anything. Though I very much do miss not having the time. That’s doing my nut in. And had to borrow Mrs GB’s watch last night to set a silent, vibrating alarm so I wouldn’t wake her up. Not sure how to solve that one if I just get a basic watch.
Longest I’ve been without wearing a watch on my wrist for well over a decade. Only ever comes off to be charged.
Reckon I did my first 20 odd triathlons with just a ‘time of day’ watch, or got really fancy with an Timex IM on ‘stopwatch’
Same with NSW Masters TT comps. I eventually moved to an Ergomo PM but they were flaky AF because the pcb that resided in the BB shell would dislodge. A sun dial would have been more precise
I had a conversation with a friend at work last week about almost the same thing, I said my HR after running up the stairs and noticed she’d gone back to an analogue watch and asked about her fitbit.
Said she’d stopped wearing quite a while ago as she was becoming a slave to it and all the metrics, but sometimes wears it in bed as it has a quiet vibrate alarm. Agreed that I’m a bit of a slave to it and wonder if I should stop wearing mine, but like her I use the alarm feature.
