:woman_biking: 36-minutes 125 watts at 5 bpm more than I was doing 170w for 2 hours two months ago.

Wtf is going on. Ive tried resting, ive tried training. Eating well, 9 - 10 hours sleep, the more I sleep the more I seem to need.

Training less and putting weight on, is it a perfect storm of the heat waves, allergies, genuine illness (unlucky), life stress (which is new to me tbh), over training (although Ive done less than ever year since 2017 went I just played guitar for 8 months and ballooned to 15st plus from 10.5st)

Maybe in a few days or a week I’ll come good but almost 2 weeks of total decline is starting to get to me.

So I thought is this just in my head but then looked at my Garmin metrics seems to match my feeling but over a longer period than I thought?

After the IM I’m having 3 weeks off and maybe some blood tests.

Then if alls okay I plan a project… to GFA London marathon quali and might go long with some Ultras

I feel you. Similar position. I’m currently putting it down to Covid I had 4 weeks ago. I am hoping I’ve turned a corner, but its starting to get grate

I strongly suspect that it could be Covid, but can’t confirm as not tested and its too late to test to confirm now.
It is the need for sh1t loads of sleep and HR being all over the place when my HR is normally very predictable even in changeable conditions, heat, hydration etc. It does seem exactly like when I missed Manchester Marathon in 2023, tested positive 2 - 3 weeks before when I was in the best run shape of my life.. grrr. That took a good 3 - 4 months to recovery from.

Equally it could be something like Anemia which I suffered from in 2019 (although I suspect that was due to losing too much weight, being too light is not a problem at the moment, if anything its the opposite, I’m 12kgs heavier than when I was Anemic.)

Hope you are back to 100% soon and can push on and get any lost fitness back.

Apologies to all for having a bit of a moan, its just very frustrating.

I am very grateful for the fitness I health I have, things could be much worse.

It was a bit of a struggle to get out of bed and to the pool this morning, going an hour later than normal, and its still dark when trying to get up. I am glad I made the effort to go.

No expectations, just go and enjoy it…

:man_swimming: 600m as 1x 200m, 1x 100m, 2x 50m, 2x 100m, ave 1:56 /100m

One of my better swims so glad I went.

My symptoms, I’m not super tired but definitely more so than I’d usually be with the current amount of exercise I’m doing. HR is mostly fine, slightly elevated than what I’d expect, but my HRV is well down, again especially considering how little I’ve trained and my daily stress scores are way up from normal even though I’m barely doing anything and have zero stress going on. I had been having heart palpations and having that anxious feeling until yesterday, as in can feel my heart in my chest but HR is normal, just very thuddy. I did get checked and ECG and bloods were fine. I’d just like to be able to get back to my normal training routine without fear I’m putting myself in a hole!

First bit of exercise this week due to work and chronic lack of mojo

7km run around rather dark Belfast

Seems like alot of people are going down with this. Starts with very blocked sinuses, then some blood up there then dry chesty cough. You think you start to feel better and then it comes back, then the heart palpations and a very feeling stressed body, some brain fog and minorly depressed feeling. Doesn’t seem to be registering as Covid as a friend has it and just tested but came back negative. Seems to take a while to clear!

It is comforting to know it is not just me and anything Ive done wrong, in the rant thread I mentioned something.

Base health is okay, so we just need the ride it out.

Not been feeling myself for a week or so, not bad enough to stop and had hard efforts last weekend.

Just a bit fuzzy headed, slightly sore throat and sinuses, slightly tired despite not doing much this week.

Don’t think the migraines have helped, HRV, HR are slightly up and down and I haven’t been sleeping well. Also a bit snappy.

Probably too early to be taperitis :joy:

I’ll see how the parkrun goes tomorrow.

46:20.. in the end capped the hr at 155 and just kept slogging along !

Fan is pointless as it just circulated hot air .. hamstring good so that’s all that matters really

45 is the target next week

Im not doing an event this time of year again.

Maybe its the return to school, college, uni flu that makes it into the general population a week later.

I can’t imagine runing that pace in those conditions for that long.

Our students aren’t really back until next week but I’ve got child owners either side of me in the office :face_with_medical_mask:

I always have a cold this week plus or minus one or a few days.

Its a family joke, Ive got my Birthday flu, the week of my Birthday :birthday_cake:

It is why I paused before entering Barcelona, I thought if I was careful it wouldn’t happen, but you can’t beat the matrix (every year without fall ill.)

As I said, better now than the race weekend, it is not clearing, but surely it cant extend to three or four weeks.

Athough sadly I have missing my two main build weekends.

Its okay :+1:, surely years of endurance must help.
