Nothing again for me this past week. Knee is now at about 90%, ankle now probably 80%. Probably nothing again this week, got plenty of WFH to do now that our youngster is off to school for half days this week.
I had the week off work last week and Iām in the Alps; I thought Iād try and go to some places Iāve not been before. Looking at the results Iām shocked by how slow I have been moving for the week! Iām also pretty shot, so know in my legs I was working hard, even if the stats arenāt complimentary!
Duration: 23:45
Distance: 212km
TSS: 934
Bike: 131km (really, is that it?!) ~7hrs 10
Run/Hike: 81km (No, but serriously, is that it?!) ~16hrs 35
El. Gain: 7,211m
Iām completely pooped. When I finished my jaunt on foot yesterday I really considered going out for a 15 minute jog to get up to 24 hours. And was looking at Trainer Road to find sessions of just over 66TSS to see if I could hit 1,000⦠and then I tried to stand up to go for a shower and decided no the correct answer was beer then shower.
This Week: The plan is to do some recovery, probably with the bike on the turbo, I know workās going to be full on Weds/Thurs and the weather forecast isnāt great for the start of the week so itās probably a good week for it. There are a few hike/run routes Iām tempted to try, and will probably give one of them a go this weekend⦠the problem is theyāre very committing, the kind of thing that if 1/2 way round all the fun has gone then itās going to be a struggle to get back. Still, thatās how we get to know ourselves, right?
Top stuff.
Great stuff I think the key metric here is the elevation gain!! Big numbers for a week
No doubt terrain is having a fair old impact as well!
Nearly a normal weekās training after a few hit and miss weeks over holidays etc.
2 Swims - 1:50 - 5km (1 OW & 1 Pool - both on same day, shoulders knew about that one)
2 Bikes - 3:20 - 78km
1 Run - 0:38 - 6km
1 Row - 30mins
Hit a PB top speed on bike of 82.7kph, thatās the only kind of PB Iāll be getting anytime soon.
Now do i Zwift for 45 mins or give my bike a good scrub down in my lunch break today. Roads were wet and manky yesterday, so the clean will probably serve me (the bike) better in the long run. My butt probably wonāt complain about another dayās rest!
Swam this morning on what will be a ārecoveryā week
20 x 100m off 1:45 - raised the stroke up a bit to 68/69 spm
1500m pull & paddles
Today was the first day of termā¦
We were able to find enough students over the last couple of weeks to keep us in a job.
One group had 25 (which is a bit too many)
āLuckilyā some of them didnāt really know what they had signed up for and by the end of the first day, 3 had decided it wasnāt for them and want to change courses
Was very strange trying to do our normal induction, which involves some team building, within the new restrictions.
All of the students have been told to wear coverings in corridors, yet about 40-50% that Iāve seen walking about werenātā¦
Thatās good news funkster that you got enough, does it keep the wolf from the door for another 9 months?
Yep.
Hopefully now weāre in the new college it gives us a chance to grow a bit as well
I am ruined today as keeping 43 new students on their toes all day takes it out of you and Iām out of practice lol
2 miles of 2 min run, 1 min walk getting Mrs S back to running again after a long layoff
5.5 mile hilly this morning, 7 minute miles.
Bonus point for roadworks en route, especially for making a car stop as I ran through with gay abandon.
39km road ride with a local group I only found out about a couple of weeks ago. Nice ride, good pace.
386mtrs, av 27.5kph
CBA now
Back at work full time and Iām enjoying that too much (actually not joking!)
Itās too easy to skip that afternoon session and just do some work instead.
Got to the pool at 0620 yesterday to find Iād booked the wrong day and it was fully booked, wasnāt massively annoyed
Just cut back my week by 20% duration.
Not sure what to do next?
Increase bike FTP, lose weight and do a quick(er) 5kmā¦seems like too much to focus on
3k row, 40 minutes S&C this morningā¦
Ahh, taper time, how I love thee. Weekend Warrior @Blenhem coming up this weekend
It is soooooo sweaty and stuffy out there today!
Nice little trail run, just sy of 15km, but i was dripping wet when i got back!
I find a lot of modern head torches are badly designed; you get too much light into your eyes, rather than lighting up ahead. Thatās the āpriceā of compact LEDs as opposed to big incandescent bulb housings jutting out ahead of you like a miners lamp.
iāve never had a problem running with a headtorch. I run with mine on low setting as well to save battery. Only on realy steep, technical descents when iām going quick do i need to pay special attention.
For me the biggest annoyance is simply having a strap around my head that causes pressure ache sometimes after hours wearing it, or it gets all wet and sweaty and manky.
