Training - What Training?!

Hmm, 14 reps, 140m, I reckon it was’t 2000, you need to go out and do some more.

It’s 150 per rep. Look at the os map. Trust me, we’ve checked! :joy:

I even looked, you go from 10m line to the 150m line! I see the top is 157 at the very most, I don’t think you’re hitting the top, so a couple of m there, and sea level to the path is maybe 5m there, so I do agree 150m might be possible, but the map shows 10 to 150!

I should believe you really, but strava isn’t helping! and tbh anything is insane, I’d be hoping to be stuck behind walkers the whole time up to get a rest.

Yes, I find my watch and Strava/GC tend to under-egg the ascent versus the actual OS Map.

Come on you know strava isn’t accurate Jim! :joy: We worked out the spot on the field where the 150m line is and run right down to the beach. Max of 2/3m above sea level.

I usually judge my vert by how many bacon sandwiches I have at the cafe afterwards. One and a small coffee, sub 800mtrs, two coffees and a sandwich 800-1000, two sangers, two coffees and a cake = Everesting. :+1:

Are the turnarounds marked? Although I imagine winter time and the field you have to run across would just make it even harder by the time I’d have a chance (to do one rep)

Not marked, but there is a specific post on the fence we use.

Have a look at the vk segment we made. Most are run in winter including the current kom. Waiting for someone to go sub 90 on it.

I am now mentally and physically exhausted though! Got home at 3, jumped straight in the shower and had to be at the school by 3.15. Now there’s efficiency of planning for you (or stupidity). Now I’m struggling to make a cup of coffee properly! :joy:

How come Strava only recognised 2 of those VK segments? Why did Strava not pick up 6 more after your first one?

Back to indoor riding again today :tipping_hand_man:

The vk segment is the whole 7 x reps. There’s also a ‘vk lap’ segment that it should’ve picked up on.

That is simply a special kind of nuts

I’m guessing from HR you weren’t holding back on the descents either?

Wow

Got all togged up for a turbo session but kept getting drop outs, which is very unusual for me, hardly ever happens.

Took it a sign to have a rest day!

Well we were pretty hot on the first 9 or 10, then it was moving as quickly as we could - we had no choice in the matter! Haha. We had 4hrs as our tough target, so really happy to go 10 mins under. We were ticking off 15 min reps at the start quite nicely (needed 17s) but we were power walking the whole ascents for the last 3 or 4, until the flatter bit at the top.

Its a tough old hill.

Starting to feel a bit chilly in the mornings out running in a t-shirt. Could be the clear skies & wind here.

Yeah it’s proper chilly this morning here. So if course mini GB #1 didn’t want to wear her coat to school!

I’m trying to find some motivation from the depths of my exhausted soul to get out on the bike now. But this warm coffee and sunny extension is solo damn good. But it’s my last solo day off. So need to make the most of it. But my body is shattered after yesterday! :joy:

Some days making the most of it is having a nice sit down with a coffee and a book. Or something that you wouldn’t normally do. Or at least that’s been my take on it for the last little while while I’ve been out in France; there was one Sunday that was glorious but I’d fully buggered myself on the Saturday so drank an excessive amount of coffee, read a book and sat in the sunshine; bloody lovely it was too.

Bike reps on the same hill.
