I really should think things through before I type them here.
Screw it, let’s go.
This is brilliant @Adam. I’m sure all your 5km runs over the last couple of months are going to be perfect prep.
#youdidittoyourself!

Yes @FatPom top man
Thanks @Sparky I’ll just blitz it down there in the morning. Just the A3 and A27 I’m guessing 1:45 or so
Yep. @wheezy I’m a finely tuned machine - every lap happens to be 5km apparently. I’ll just mentally break it down in 8 laps of Molesey
I’ve put down for 3.45 finish but just had to go upstairs for something and even that was a struggle.
Carrying those sandbags must be difficult though I guess
Half marathon Saturday
Full hit Sunday
You won’t find that regime in any training plan.
Are you Kenyan…?
4 commute days for 110Km total. No running. Press ups on the bath every evening getting a bit easier.
Been known to run for food before
I was trying to work out how to carry my gels. I have some Salomon shorts with elastic waist but I wore them today and as well as being in the wash, the inner doesn’t quite come down long enough to stop chaffing after about 20kms.
Tried my Salomon belt thingie and it’s too tight these days. So I’m going with the 2XU belt with number tags and those super tight gel loops but it does also have an expanding zip pocket at the front.
So will be rocking 3 gels and half a tube of Shot Bloks.
On top of that, seem to have every contingency in the clothing options covered!
I really don’t like anything but shorts if I’m running hard. Only ‘untested’ for me are the short socks I have. They are the Hilly Mono marathon but they are thinner and shorter than my Mono Skin Ultras (which are my go to 20km plus sock).
I bought them for Eton Dorney to fit nicely in the Next% but have only used then for a couple of 10km ish runs.
What?! I thought you were Scottish? Your ancestors will be turning in their graves! 10 degrees is still vest weather for a race, a d the shortest shorts going.
Everyone’s smashing out races on Zwift or signing up for marathons the next day.
I’m over here…
8.11 mile run
58:20 / 7:12 mile pace
128HR
75 minute Zwift
209W NP / 0.63IF
99HR
Tri suit has big pockets for gels
We are allowed to leave bottles 2x 500 ml plus tailwind
Gloves, long socks, vested tri and off we go, ive started in the cold with a Wolly hat a few times… it gets binned literally after a few k.
3 degrees at 9 o’clock …! Never raced in those temps before
Wolly…!
Your sensible …!
I had about 30 minutes in the gym doing some exercises and weights.
Very lazy day really.
Yeah I feel lazy too!
Last night 1st karate class in person for 4 weeks.
Sensei on a mission to bloody hurt us.
Legs ached all night, slept really badly.
Was awake at 5am to remember hadn’t put the elf out, ffs.
Then tried zwift this morning, 1 hour. Power just wasn’t there. Switched to exercise bike to spin out legs. Still awful…
By now I’m complaining that I’ve ruptured my calf or some such, left leg really sore between calf and thigh, feels like it was over extended at some point…
Oh no…
Wife demands we take boys outside…they’re feral.
Fine…ok…if I have to…ugh ugh…by time we’d finished playing 2 on 2 basketball in the drive (combined ages of teams 53 and 17…and I have 7 year old twins…what a puzzle) I felt totally fine…hmmm…
GOOD LUCK TO TT MARATHONERS TOMORROW!
Is it not time for a TT lunatic yearly award?
(Maybe monthly)
Eg Adam and FP for tomorrow on a whim, Joex for being 1 of (Iirc) 122 finishers of the virtual IM, (I can’t remember who!) who did the Scottish c2c ride etc…
