Wasnāt too bad in the end. Wind was cold on the hands but it was a stunning morning.
Running to a sunrise over a calm sea was pretty spectacular to be fair.
Especially after the crappy weather weāve had for the last few weeks!
Was meant to be a 15-20km but sometimes you can just tell when it isnāt clicking. My back was protesting yesterdayās effort and despite being a lovely sunny morning, the icy wind blast wasnāt helping my back. (legs felt fine). I cut it short.

Yeah a swim is always nicer on the back. (donāt over rotate) but we get to that age.
2021has to be year of incorporated S&C with no excuses for me.

Iāve avoided weights for years now, ex body builder and donāt want the bulk, but a structured programme is probably needed now.

I just do sets a rep or two from failure in each set. Normally takes about 7-10 sets so sets of 8-15 reps depending on how Iām feeling, how much rest I have between sets, how strict my push ups are etc. I use push up handles so I can go a bit deeper on them.
I canāt measure the bike trainer workout at the moment, just 30 minutes of spinning the wheels⦠think I need to buy myself a heart rate strap or something to make sure Iām not going too easy.
A basic hr monitor is a start.
Those handles are tough, I really got into press ups in lock down this year, I can see similar in 2021 at this rateā¦

I originally bought the handles since my wrists were complaining after doing daily push ups and I heard they helped (they did!) but the added difficulty is a side effect I didnāt ask for, I had just started getting to higher rep sets and had to dial it right back!
I think a hr monitor will be my first purchase in the new year.
My brother uses them ⦠I got up to sets of twenty and quite a few per hourā¦

Ideally you need watts, but just riding a bike, any bike anywhere will help to start.
Youāve wandered on to a site with all sorts, Kona or death ultra fast alpha athletes, paid coaches, most will be very very good and happy go lucky fitness nuts who like to be tested.
Itās still a great sport met some great people over the years.

knocked out my fastest 5km on the rower for a long time earlier today. maybe this structured training malarky works - who knew eh?? (fwiw - am training for a marathon distance row next April)
