Well done mate, I had been wondering what all the recent training had been for
@gingerbongo where to start??
You ran a marathon. On your birthday. In the middle of winter. At night. Off road. In shorts and a T shirt. And fancy dress. With beer.
ETA: oh and it was raining.
Looks like the bar has already been set high for “maddest athletic endeavour of 2021”
Amazing!
Blame lockdown!!
Amazingly i’m feeling alright today. Not half as tight and crippled as i thought. My buddy had forgotten that he ran a hilly 20+ miler on Sunday, so he was tying up a lot in the last hour. Probably worked in my favour as i scrubbed off a lot of speed as i was moving alright still.
We’re already working on the next adventure for next month!
Amazing, and Happy Birthday.
I went for an early 18km yesterday and was surprised how mild it was. Could have done a t-shirt I reckon!
As you do…
Well done
11km on the rower this morning
2km warm up
14 x 500 with 60 secs between at splits 4 secs lower than 5k splits from last week
2km warm down
the 14 x 500s weren’t too bad and hit target pace on every one but decided to empty the tank on the last one and went 9.5secs lower over the 500. breathing through my arse on the last 150m
Double run day yesterday; 1 inside, 1 outside
2 hour turbo as
2 mins hard seated
3 mins easy recovery tt bars
X 22.
Started too hard as we always do, but adjusted and got through it.
6km run with LO. 40:50 at 6.48 pace
Another hour of sweet spot intervals this morning
4km run in the pm, legs felt like lead
I didn’t.
I may not explain this well, but you know on some technical items there isn’t a traditional label. Rather, it’s embedded onto the material.
Sort of like the below…
To be fair, I’m sure she would if I asked.
And I’m comfortably into my 30’s.
Happy birthday by the way, and chapeau on the marathon!

Be interesting to see how a day off effects you.
99.9% of people would benefit.
You might be in the 0.01 cat though, enjoy your rest.
I’m not so sure I agree with that, days off from regular non increasing load really don’t do much at all.
Interesting test of my attempts to get some fitness, horrible rain with one hour in the window looking to run, but the turbo chance is the can attend on the turbo meeting exactly 60 minutes before. Maybe we need a second tacx, and a larger house.
They do for me.
Ive gone to train several times, especially in the last few years, been beyond crap and then realised this is the 7 th day on, usually jacked it there and then.
All my training pb” s come after a rest day.
We are all different, it’s probably “all on the head” but it feels very very real to me
Have you had steady load - ie a flat CTL, or were you increasing your load, that is a different situation?
Sometimes I plan an early morning run and God tells me to take a day off. Might have a run at lunch if it eases up.
