Training - What Training?!

Running wit Mrs T and Oska

Was going to be a marathon but the wheels came off for Mrs T so ended up a bit of death March to 20 miles

Ran out of liquid with 2 miles to go so was “forced” to make other arrangements

The last 2 miles - wasn’t easy to get going again for some reason ??

My eldest son going back to uni tomorrow so we went on a last ride😞

Beautiful sunshine, warm, headwind out but tailwind back. A leisurely 53km in just over 2 hours

Recently bought the boys who are now 17 19 and 21 Triban RC500 road bikes from Decathlon, they seem really decent bikes for the price £600. 10kg , Alu frame, carbon forks. Sora 2* 9 speed. Mechanical disc brakes, 27mm tyres. Very pleased with them 5/5 :+1:

Hours aqua stuff this morning… quite hard.

3 k in an hour ish swim.

Bit confused at the end of the length, trying to turn round using one leg was a skill I never really mastered.

The actual swimming felt ok in parts

A day of chores but had 90 mins between picking up the kids at various places so just headed out in the Next 2 to break them in and enjoy the sun. A mid afternoon run meant no drinks or gels to surviving on the early lunch. 1:25 for a HM/ 4:04 pace not quite @gingerbongo pace but it’s rolling and I was enjoying the sunshine and quiet roads. I know I could have gone faster so I am feeling positive about what I could do if I enter a running race.

Yeah you’re looking strong at the mo @leahnp!

I did something similar. Eldest was at gymnastics, my first drop off so I planned a little getaway to use the hour. Happy to see I could get into the lanes pretty much immediately. Coincidentally I was just round the corner from a big hill I rode for the first time last sunday, so thought I’d give that a bash as it was 4.5km to the top, so perfect distance run.

I’d spotted a segment for the hill and knew it was 8mins or so for the kom, so planned to have a crack. Started the run and immediately felt sluggish, so decided I couldn’t be arsed to go for the kom. But I’d use it as a recce for next time.

Legs were feeling shite on the hill. Kept having to stop to walk, when I really shouldn’t have (though it does get bloody steep, over 20%). Was only running with hr on the watch so was just busy berating myself for being so weak.

I’d figured my time would be 10 mins plus, so I’d completely given up on this and any future attempts.

Get to the top, hit lap and it was 8 something. Bloody less than 11 secs off the kom!

Had I had the screen on the watch instead of being a flippin wuss, I could’ve easily mustered up a bit of mtfu and got going and taken the kom out (I finished 2nd by less than 11 secs).

Turns out I missed out on the kom for the descent (which I didn’t know about) by a matter of secs as well! Oh well, next time. :joy:

Ended up running a bit progressive on the kms back to the car finishing in solid tempo+ territory.

Sorry bit of a long, Shakespearean soliloquy there! Cos it’s only gonna be me listening! :joy: :joy:

Anyway.

10km in 42.30 with 235m elevation.

42:30 for a lumpy 10K and walked bits of it

You aren’t making any friends :joy:

Well done, but MTFU a bit next time :boom:

4th 100 mile cycling week in a row… not massive mileage, but its still only April… however, as a mark of how low things had sunk, my CTL is now back up to a meagre 29… :flushed::joy:

85.3kg.
(ETA: half marathon. 84.1kg!)

Copied @leahnp and @gingerbongo and went out for a cruisey half marathon as punishment.
4:08/km 156bpm ave

Went round the Wilmslow Half Marathon course. Poor day for it.

First 10km downhill with a tailwind.
Second 10km uphill into a headwind.
1km downhill sheltered to home :+1:t3:

Loads left in the tank. So a Positive there.

24k of the run walk.
Hip/glute really struggling from 90mins.

Got to my walk break at 1:50 and realised it was near where I lost part of my saddle rail clamp last Thursday heading out to the TT.
Only spotted it on the gutter on the main road during the 1 Min walk.
Picked it up… And that loosened the glute off
Last 20mins, almost pain free :ok_hand:

8 hours 3 minutes on the week.

Pretty pleased with that to be honest considering I haven’t touched a bicycle since last Saturday.

4 sea swims for just over 5kms

70kms of plodding around Cornish hills. I’m hoping I can absorb that 1800 odd meters of climbing. That’s a bloody lot for me!

Hard that wind, wasn’t it!
So annoying

7.5hrs recovery week for me!
Did a 10TT and half marathon.
Swam OW for the first time in seven months.

3hrs 10mins bike (3 sessions)
2hrs 50mins run (3 sessions)
1hr 30mins swim (3 sessions)

Just a lovely balanced week.

1st run in months… very very short, and very very slow… but it was a run, and I was sensible enough to not overdo it!
