25m. So it’s flattering, as my push and tumble is okay for an Adult Onset Swimmer.
Never swam in a 50m.
Swam in a couple of 33m ones, which are weird.
Maths and shit

The only 33m I’ve ever swam in was the pool in Street (Strode) Somt. I never noticed as a kid because it was ‘just a pool’ and hadn’t been there for nearly 40yrs until a couple of years ago, weird as!
We used to have a 50mtr outdoor when I was a kid in Wells, it was next to old fire station and back in the day when a loud siren used to go off for a shout. Loud AF There is a Tesco there now
Oz have almost exclusively 50mtr pools but the best one I’ve used in the UK was the one at Surrey Sports Science Ctr at the Uni in Guildford, amazing set up and can be divided to make 2 x 50mtrs, also had an elevated floor for disabled access.
It was my local pool when I lived in Godalming because I could go on the way to work.
You whinge and you shall receive. Baby slept through for the just the second time ever last night at 17 months old (the only other time was over a year ago) - and in her own room for the first time.
So I woke up at 5am and did 1hr treadmill, 12kph, 1% incline.
Please let this continue.
That’s the spirit !
That’s my go to run these days, stick at it.
Looking for advice on how to build my lunch time bike session. I’ve got 50 mins to play with. I’ve mapped a course which includes 5 loops of the following:
First part: 1.7km flat (~2mins)
Second part: 1.5k 6% climb (~5mins)
Third part: 2km downhill/flat (~3 mins)
So perhaps 7 mins on, 3 mins off. If I do 5 loops - that would be 35 mins of effort so what would be a good power range to aim for?
Alternative is 2mins at 90% FTP, 5mins at 110%, 3 mins rest?
First full distance swim of the year
I think it was actually 3720 m !!!
30 degree pool ( pb) Been a long week.
PLUS I did it one length sprint one length slow for the last 90 lengths … so my first intervals since the war.
Had to do breast/ doggy paddle for three of the slow ones as I got carried away.
1:12 total.
I think your supposed to stop during intervals ?
Hammer will know more!
I’d run with that time.
Cycling seems like too much faff.
I am looking at doing;
2km wu
20 mins hill repeats - power up , cool down and jog a bit, then repeat. Get about 5-6 of them in
2km cd
I’m not taking the pi%% but by the time you’ve got everything on and off…?!
Turbo?
Run?
Core ?
@Mungo2 @Poet it’s hard for me to fit in any sessions longer than an hour so I’m making the most of it! I mix up lunch sessions between bike, run, and swim. Went out for the ride, Di2 went into cash mode after 10 mins, then I got stuck behind a tractor for a bit (before it chased me up the hill which was a good push!).
Di2
Crash mode
Nightmare
Is it the 10 speed dura ace system ?
Ultegra Di2. At least I think it was crash mode. The downhill section of the loop has a few bumps. When I got onto the flat it was just the rear gears wouldn’t shift. I stopped and shifted it manually and it started working again
Sorry for bumping my own post but any suggestions? Have to take LO swimming in a minute but can’t decide best way to spend my time tomorrow.
Sorry to hear that. Personally I would go for a decent walk but keep close enough to home so that you can get back if it flairs up.
Perhaps doing a few kick drills at swimming could be a low risk test as well.
Do you know why the knee is causing you bother?
5 hour turbo.
I know your tempted
Has to help?
Fast walking ?! Carrying weight ?
I wouldn’t run till the knee grief ducks off.
I’m in the same boat at the min, I enjoy running but too soon for the calf yet
Yeah good plan thanks mate. I don’t why it has started, it’s like a very sharp stabbing pain in my knee cap. It will dissipate if I walk but hills seem to aggravate it.
This is a horrible time for it too happen as it seems too long to taper and too short to wait for it to get better and then train.
Could be a plan. Nearly all my longer stuff will be ‘fully loaded’ now.
Check this. Running from and to the garage. 2nd journey a bit more uphill than the first, both run on feel with just hr on the watch. Purposefully ran a tad harder in the pm as was more uphill.
Looking at some sports health sites, I think I have Runners Knee. The description seems to be exactly what I’m experiencing.
There seem to be a lot of causes of Runner’s Knee. I think I had a misalignment of the kneecap when I had it & I was given an exercise which sorted it toot sweet.
It does sound like you (k)need a trip to a physio.
Seems that way. The fastest appt I can get is next Friday. Been looking at the James Dunne channel which has been helpful.
