That all depends on whether i have to jump on a bike or god forbid swim!
Apparently NZ is going to open up again once we are all vaccinated, ykk junior is apparently a bridesmaid in July in UK so current plan is aim for around then, therefore other than Glastonbury I am all ears… Though I was going to look to see if there is anything Centurion like.
I would back myself on a 100mile run smackdown but as distance shorten’s and other facet’s of triathlon get thrown in the confidence would diminish very quickly…
NDW100 is Aug 6th 2022 and opens for entries on Sept 25th
I think all the other Centurion races like the 50s are full around that that time. Also have a look at Threshold Sports, they do Race to the King/Stones etc. (I think Stones would fit with July) and they’ve just taken over Endure 24, which is 24hrs x 8km loops and that’s July in Reading.
10x4min 105%ftp with 3min RI
Actually managed this OK apart from chafing caused by terrible cheap new cycling shorts - not easy but within myself. Can’t decide how to adjust this for next time - up the effort to 110%, drop the rest to 2 mins or increase the rep to 5mins. Any thoughts?
Followed by easy 5.5km with the dog. She is absolutely terrible as a run partner with so many stops and having to wait for her to catch up. 6min/km - real slow and will definitely take time adjusting to figures in KM
Headed to the track last night for a Freddy Kruger session. Didn’t look too bad on paper, and to be fair it wasn’t the worst session i’ve ever done. I judged it pretty much to perfection though, as all my reps were where i wanted them and i was 100% empty at the end.
Session was (with actual rep pace/time in bold):
1600m at 10k pace, 3 min lap walk/jog (5.38 - 3.31/km)
4 x 200 at mile pace with 30 seconds rest, 3 min lap walk/jog (34, 34, 34, 34)
1600m at 5k pace, 3 min lap walk/jog (5.16 - 3.18/km)
4 x 200 at mile pace with 30 seconds rest (34,32,33,31)
Happy with that - more in depth thoughts on sub 17 thread.
Yep. On the track i turn off autolap and then use manual lap function between intervals. Sometimes on longer reps (like the 1600s) i’ll lap it every 400m as well, so i can get an idea of pace and for analysis afterwards.
I’ve spent weeks convincing my mate, who is a slave to his watch and like to have the sessions all programmed into his Fenix, to ignore all that as GPS is dog $hit on a track. You know it’s 400m long, so just use the stopwatch.
I know my 400m pace for each of my intervals, and then i do the maths on the way round, normally checking in at the 200m mark as well. I seem to have a pretty natural feeling for pace on a track.
The former. Hit lap after my interval (whatever that may be) and then keep an eye on the lap timer for the rest. So in this we had 3 mins recovery between sets, with 30secs between the 200s.
30 secs is not a long time after blasting out a fast 200, that i can tell you. 30 seconds of blasting out a 200 however is about 17x as long!
My HR is lower than yours now
I’ll have to do a run at aerobic pace to see what my HR is, but I’m barely going over 120bpm for 220W on the flats these days.
