Training - What Training?!

Getting it done though :+1:t3:

We’ve talked about this. You can’t keep asking newcomers this question.

Also, keep going @FatPom!

Anyway…

7.5km hilly run this morning.

Booked in for a swim later.

I asked how long each split took as I’m doing a competition that includes two of them for pacing reasons.

He replied and seemed fine.

We … didn’t talk about it at all, this is the internet.

Are you a school teacher?

Further than I’ve run since summer 2019 - quite depressing really :weary:

Looks like 7.08. I did stop for a cold can of Coke at a burger van. Didn’t pause watch, past caring at that point!

Well done @FatPom that’s a serious distance :muscle:

Good work. That’s a serious Friday Afternoon!

That would be a decent bike ride.

Thanks all. Cleaned up, sipping a cold drink but stomach is not happy. Unfortunately, the Beta Fuel I was hoping to test didn’t show up in time (it was delivered halfway through my run!)

Starting to rethink my 100 mile aspirations. The problem I have is that whilst my legs do ache, the limiting factor is always the tenderness of my feet. It’s like they’re made of glass after about 40km.

I’ve changed my insoles from Superfeet to Enetor, which seem better but is not a magic bullet by any means. It keeps happening and I don’t know why.

No experience in ultras (so possibly crap advice) but I recall when doing DofE expeditions (many many years ago) our instructors recommend rubbing the soles of our feet with rubbing alcohol to stop blisters and avoid tenderness.

Still seems to be be a thing:

Seem to remember ā€˜Blind’ Dave Heeley was doing this pre-MDS but ran into problems when the shop assistant at his local pharmacy gave him something a little stronger which took a couple of layers off his feet, less than ideal

Cheers mate. I have read about rubbing E45 on your feet nightly, as apparently softer feet blister less. Thankfully, I rarely suffer blisters but my feet are definitely ā€˜delicate’!

Dunno about rubbing alcohol, reckon I’d need drinking alcohol to get much beyond 40km

As @Doonhamer is taking the piss out of me on Strava it did take a turn for the worse.

Punctured on the way home going through Richmond park. Around 6km from home. Slowly rolled to the other side of Kingston. Stopped then realised I didn’t have a spare tube in my backpack

Walked 3km home in the rain. Didn’t actually mind it tbf :relaxed:

For some reason I’ve had sore calves this week so switched a planned run for my first zwift in 3 months. My bike power has gone walkies.
