Training - What Training?!

Glad it’s not just me!!
Calibrated ours up through zwift too .. So we know the speed is accurate. But my perceived effort on cadence feels like it’s really high. Even when its comparable to the road.

I bet I even mentioned this before you got it :grimacing:

That’s quite reassuring to know! I really like the treadmill btw :+1: it’s getting used a lot by the whole family & random visitors too

Parkrun in the rain for me this morning. First run all week. Took me a good few days to get over the monster elevation session last Sunday! Few bikes in there too.

May get out tmw evening for a few… Or may not. Log burner went on last night, and it was oh so cosy!

Tough race next Sunday then. 35km and about 1200m elevation.

A focussed crowd if you will.

Did parkrun, managed to be 3ish minutes late, ran through the field to 47th, just like last time I was late, both times I’ve not been late I’ve been 8th, so I guess that’s the two options. I must’ve overtaken @badash who was presumably taking it eash 'cos of a marathon, or maybe just struggles in the rain, but I didn’t see him.

On the final hill 1km from the finish, I decided to run it hard, I lasted about 15 seconds before I decided that was a stupid idea but I got my heart rate up to 164 which is a new high for the year I imagine, was only 2 seconds faster than the previous lap according to strava too.

First time in rain jacket, gloves and buff this season too, weather isn’t great.

Did some weights, muscle in my neck has gone into spasm. I knew this working out lark was bad for you

Steady 6.5k yesterday’s the treadmill. Similar to other comments, I’m comfortably 1 minute and mile slower than outside for the same effort.

Managed 7 or 8 beers yesterday, so a slow morning ahead!

Sunday morning run with daughter again - knocked another 7 mins off her pb for this route - she is absolutely buzzing now. I really enjoyed it as well.

Dodged the lashing rain - bonus

Pretty poor week for me. Mustered 30k of running which was mostly propped up by 17K today, managed about 2K at a suicidal MP on Wednesday :joy:

60K of cycling, although a hard Zwift TTT on Tuesday.

But I’ve been feeling a bit rough and trying to avoid everyone with a cold in the office! Almost 3 days rest as I only did 5K on Friday and 8K cycling yesterday to get my car.

Does a 6 hour drinking sesh on Friday count towards anything?

Ran 6 days this week, all pretty short except for 21km on Wednesday. 60km for the week at average pace 5.01/km. Some on treadmill & as short as 5km.

Runalyze now says 51% marathon fitness GOAL OF 50% ACHIEVED LOL now just need to keep it there for 4 weeks, until Leicester half mara.

I have a short attention span, and now after 6 weeks of being quite focussed, am at the point in the training cycle where I could quite happily hang up the shoes for a week or two and get stuck into some DIY project, or catching up with series 3 of Breaking Bad, or about 50 other things. But that’s not the way to run a good half in 4 weeks so will try really hard to keep on keeping on. Has been inspirational to see some of you guys run the London, or superfast park runs, or all night on the north Devon coast path.

Liking Zwifting at the moment, have zwifted 4 times just for pleasure- whereas the 6 runs felt less than pleasurable at times, particularly trying to hold “best case” pace of 3m50-3m55 per km which is currently about as pleasurable as sticking a knitting needle in my eye.

Total for the week 5 hours running, 3 hours zwifting

Runalyze Had me at around 30% marathon fit and trending down with an estimate of 4:40 I think.

I think it places a lot of emphasis on your long run and not taking into account any cross training really.

Even now it’s saying my predicted is 3:35 :man_shrugging:t2:

Yeah i was all excited and inspired by you all earlier. But now that’s gone. Bedtime took longer than expected and I cba to go out for my planned run. Maybe tmw. Maybe.

I don’t think <10km of running for the week is ideal mara training! :man_facepalming:t3:

You’ll be fine, it’s my current training plan as well. But I can’t just rock up and blag a 17 minute 5K!

10 hours this week

80/20 out of the window big style with a 2.5 and one hour max effort static bike efforts good ish results on both for me.

First 10 k for some time which was fair to crap.

My first 200 m timed burpee broad jumps thingy … in front of a few colleagues in the prison gym, I finished and collapsed… 7:39, target is below 5, someone commented that she thought I would be much better at stuff like that !!

Onwards .
