Training - What Training?!

Rowing is getting easier / more efficient.

Ski erg, not so much.

Those ski times are as fast as I can go !

Got after it today.

Finally feeling the benefits of training 10-12 hours a week and not the silly hours I was doing.

1000 cal bike pb ! last one was 1:22 and was set 8 years ago when I as much fitter/ younger.

Plus the full 8 runs in a circuit, first time anything above 12 kph didn’t feel like sprinting a good day by recent standards.

Was meant to run with my Monday guys but it’s tipping down and I have an early start on the road tomorrow. I just CBA. I think I’m in a bit of a confidence slump :frowning:

Hassly day at work for me and was going straight to the running club meeting after work.

Forced myself to do a 7K plod round the river and felt a lot better for it

Bit of a 'mare at work here today, I just got back now. Out for a gentle 5km ish pre beer wind down

Update: just got back. Needed that. Bounce around town took care of the days stresses nicely, now that those have been medicated away perhaps a vimto will do after all :innocent:

I had a nap at lunchtime instead. Like, I actually went to bed, set an alarm and had 20 mins. Felt great for it.

Didn’t run yesterday evening.
Went to the Post Office, shipped some old clothes (gotta love Depop!), walked home via Sainsbury’s , got some prawns and stir fry ingredients.

Made that and didn’t run, watched Housewives of Cheshire, screaming at the TV as they walked down the street adjacent to ours :see_no_evil: (there’s an ā€œaestheticsā€ lounge there)
Then watched Blair & Brown - they did some great things, massive shame about Iraq.

Woke up at 6:45, missing my swim slot
Again.

Top training there @Poet
Not so sure about the Housewives of Cheshire though

I’m going for a jog in the rain today, does that pass?

Honestly, Housewives, we only watch it to see all of the local places they use.
Saw them filming a scene behind Sainsbury’s last month, just on the street, got a bit too excited :see_no_evil::roll_eyes:

ETA: Balls. Pool is open literally all day today. Should I swim?

30 minute jog.
In through the nose, out through the mouth breathing, keeping it super easy.

45 minutes at the gym.

Rowing, 5k and 0.5k interval.

Then circuits of bridges and squats, military presses and press ups and finally side ups and medicine ball side crunches.

40 hilly miles week last week. Zero miles Monday and a 5.5 mile jog today. Felt pretty leggy so prob won’t do much this week. Maybe a long run at the weekend.

3rd swim in 2 weeks…. Pool heaving busy, which is a good excuse for being slow as shit.

35mins easy pace on the treadmill followed by 5 x 1500mtr intervals on the RowErg. Finished with pullups, chinups and pushups.

32km run, mostly off road with about 500m vert all done and dusted by 0630 for me. :joy:

Mate is off on a trig hunting adventure, of about 110km, self supported. Couldn’t wangle the day off work so I said I’d join him for a couple of hours at the 3.30 am start.

Tried to go to bed super early. But all that happened was I had a 45 min power nap, then woke up about 10.15. Not sure if I properly slept again after that or not. Maybe 5 mins here and there.

It rained constantly last night, but we had 2 hours of glorious (very mild) and still weather to set us off. I peeled off the route after 2 hours to head home in time for Mrs GB to go to work.

I came back down the river which was absolutely raging and swollen. Close to bursting it’s banks on quite a few sections. More rain forecast today so its going to be flood central on the basin.

River had burst on a few sections. 2 x times I had to wade across mid thigh deep water. Water was moving very rapidly on one. I know the path like the back of my hand, so knew it would be safe if I was slow and careful. But grabbed the fence to the adjacent field for extra support…

BANG :zap::zap::zap:

Bloody electric fence wasn’t it! There were many swear words uttered at that point! :joy: Scared the crap out of me!

Got a drenching for the last hour, but it’s still so unseasonably mild.

Think I’ll be napping this lunchtime for sure, as off out for food, a few beers and watching an evening with Ranulph Fiennes thing with a couple of mates.
