Training - What Training?!

Haha, I bet that woke you up getting electrocuted!

New shorts required?

Great run though, 3am :flushed:

Nice. I’ve done a big fat nothing this morning. Wed are a car crash at work for me but will try to get out later.

I SWAM :swimming_man:t2:
1.5km 1:40/100m ave

First time in 13 weeks, but I didn’t drown.

Not sure the 1:26 and 1:28 opening 100s were the best opening salvo :see_no_evil:

Lost for words on this one :muscle::flushed:

Surprised Ranulph Fiennes isn’t coming to hear YOU talk later

Nah it’s nothing special. I just do my long runs at stupid times, that’s all. Makes it seem more mysterious than it is! :joy:

Nice work. Very impressive.

I’ve been to the Ranulph Finnes talk. It’s very good, he’s mental. Makes James Cracknell look positively normal.

This was the offending fence! :joy:

Yeah, nothing about that picture suggests shit could go sideways in a hurry

A proper aquathlon then :swimming_man:

Does anyone know where you are when you run? I guess you have your phone?

I don’t carry anything like that but maybe should. Fully expect to be found dead in a ditch by a search party at some stage

Hmm, not really. I should be much hotter on leaving routes and stuff with Mrs GB, but i rarely remember to do so. I have my phone, yeah. But not much good i guess if i fall and bump my head. I’m often with a mate, but certainly not always.

I guess i should at least set that Garmin alert/tracker thing up, just in case i’m like an hour behind when i said i’d be back. I’m often later than i say i’ll be, which doesn’t help as it would take a lot of time to pass before Mrs GB started to worry.

Good point though @fruit_thief

I moan about the
very small amount of mud the odd tractor leaves on my run route…!

On a serious note, do any of you use the ā€˜whatthreewords’ app? (I don’t!)

I tried to climb over one once when lost across the fields.
I wasn’t quite as tall as I’d hoped, that was focusing!

At least we know where ā€œBloody, Electric, Fenceā€ is located.
I don’t use it but, like you, probably should if I get stranded somewhere

Good effort @gingerbongo :muscle: Getting up at 3:30 has no appeal to me whatsoever! :joy:

Who do us single folk leave our details with? The next person to find our dead bodies in the river? :joy: I do always carry my phone though.

My second track session last night: 6 reps of 800m at 5k pace, one minute rest then 200m faster and then 3 mins rest.

Of courses I set off much faster than my 5k pace :joy:  Unlike last week where my 400 reps were increasing in speed, there was a noticeable drop off in the 800s.

This is where the Apple Watch can be useful - go arse over tit and it will ask if you want to send an alert to the emergency services. If it detects no movement for a period it will send the alert out.

It did that to me one day when walking the dog - I put a foot in a hidden rabbit hole and went down like a sack of spuds - the alert surprised me but sure enough it showed it works.

The garmins do that also. My wife fell over running (she’s clumsy) and it started calling me.

Just bashed out 2.5*2.5km @ 16kmh on the treadmill (at a cowardly 0% gradient)

Was intending to do 3 of them, but lost the will to live halfway through the final one & took an early bath.

Knacked now. HR was hitting high 160s, 175 is HRmax. Holding that effort is just grim.
