Decent run for me at Bushy this morning; wasn’t expecting much with a late night and a couple of beers but felt surprisingly fresh
Unofficial 5km pb besting my previous effort earlier in the year by a second!

Nice!

Very nice
Actually managed to control myself and not go off like a lunatic. Saved my fastest km for last. Think it was 3:35 but I keep forgetting to switch the lap splits back on my watch. Turned them off for London. Felt like I was running with the brakes on too which is pleasing!
My garmin says that I’m overreaching as well due to a low aerobic shortage. Fitness is slowly coming back but HR is still quick to peak.
In my race today, I was 4 mins slower than 2 yrs ago (49 to 53), average HR +5 beats.
Slow 10km XC race.
Probably it shouldn’t have started painting the basement this morning
Back and legs just kept cramping on any incline.
But running easy felt really nice.
Decent course, too
No you should have run 40 miles
Fast and furious last night … or not as it turns out!
5 k row
5 k run.
30 sec gap in the middle ( ish )
Concept 2 L10 25 spm
20:56
Av hr 138 ( which is really really surprising )
T mill 1%
20:27
Av hr 155 ( which is less shocking but quite pleasing to be honest)
Stretching and easy core to finish
Was meant to be an easy run but 500mtrs in I could feel my left quad and calf really tightening up again at a rapid rate, abandoned
On the other hand, could do with the time to clean the house. Got a VIP guest coming over later!
Hope running feels better soon, enjoy your guest. I’ll be spending about 3.5hrs climbing this morning, running again tomorrow.
Just been out for a nice couple of hours on the bike. Pretty steady first hour and then pushed on a tad in the 2nd hour, but wasn’t digging deep at all.
Somehow came out with this at the end of the ride though!
Not quite sure how. Feels like I’m riding well, but I had a good few more percent that I could have given today if I wanted a beasting session. Positive news I guess!
Slow start did however mean I averaged 29.7kph. Hope @Poet can forgive me!
(I only had my map on the screen for the first 40km)
Must try harder next time.
Well done though mate. Quality ride
Good numbers there!
Tollymore Trail Half Marathon Race
Ran to Stryd’s recommended watts of 260 rather than a target pace as the course was unfamiliar and hilly. Set my watch face to display average watts and 10sec average only - no HR or pace. Stryd had predicted a time of 1:45 (+/- 2mins) for the half marathon beforehand which turned out to be fairly accurate, bit annoying the course was quite a bit short.
That’s a good effort.
TT bike?
I took out the 15kg steel bike, 3kg fluids/spares and my 83kg frame and managed some token effort for 104km:
I’m confused how 171 can be a pb 60min hr, bit 170 is only 3rd for 90min.
If you do two by 40 minutes at 180 hr with a 10 minute rest interval at 110 - you end up with a 1 hour average HR of 168 and a 90 minute average of 172. Presumably either from specific sessions, or from terrain that’s the sort of workout that’s caused this.
Or just wonky hr from previous rides I guess. I’d have to look back. It was the power numbers that were more surprising.
@JibberJim will now tell me that everyone know power meters over read on remembrance Sunday and I’m actually as weak as a kitten really!
@Poet no just the canyon with mudguard and slow tyres etc. Nice ride by you btw
