5km night family run, well meant to be a run but LO had a stitch so we had to walk a fair bit.

I’m enjoying feeling more normal again post virus. Resting HR is more or less the same, however I’ve noticed my max HR is +5, is that normal after being ill? Or just that I’ve not pushed it enough previously?
Edit, turns out I misread the stats on Zwift. Max HR was same as normal
so brain not working 100% yet!
Had a lovely day of sport today. 2.5hrs at the climbing gym (led my first 6b - French grade), got home and went for a slow chatty 7.2km run - thought I was going to have to run alone, but then a couple of run partners came out to join me in the forest
That’s not good. Hope it loosens up soon.
Well that sounds like a good day. I had a booster shot, a stressful workday and then ran with a 7yr old that had a stitch!
Many a run has been ruined by one of my kids getting a stitch! How’s running for you at the moment still in pain?
Thanks
I can’t remover the last time I woke up with Out a stiff back on the lower RHS.
Massage girl who keeps me moving said you need a physio.
Feels “ different “ now.
On the mend I think thank you. Only two runs this week, a 6km and today’s 5km but no quad pain. I’m pretty sure it was the S&C exercise I was doing which I’ve now modified.
Will try for longer tomorrow afternoon as I’m off work. Two good turbo sessions this week as well. Not sure how the marathon on Dec 5th will play out but I won’t do it if the signs aren’t good.
45 minutes in the gym.
5k row, bridges, military presses, sit ups, side planks and medicine ball twists.
New kids routine leaves me able to join the club track session but only for thirty minutes. With all the warmups and stretching I only got 2x800 and 1x400 in of quality, but it was nice to be at the track. Only went at 10k pace too to maintain my easy running block…I know, not worth going to the track really but I enjoyed it
Helping my mate move some furniture around last week tweaked my neck.
Which was already a mess due to my poor posture and 20 months of WFH.
I spent a few days rubbing a Chinese equivalent of liquid deep heat in.
But I was in pain and knew I need to get a professional to work on it.
My usual sport massage/physio place only had one 30 min slot in 2 weeks’ time.
So, I took a chance on a one hour ‘Thai Deep Tissue Massage’ in Wembley.
Now, I have had some Eastern European ‘thumbs of doom’ massages before.
But, Holy Mary, mother of gawd!”, nothing prepared me for this!
Two different masseuses doing 30-minute shifts each.
It started with a gentle hot towel being rubbed into the soles of my feet.
Whilst this certainly set me at ease, it also provided a false sense of security.
Before I knew it…
A pair of knees were buried in my hamstrings and my back was being pummelled.
Now, I know thumbs in my calves/hamstrings/quads are par for the course.
But thumbs in my forearms was a whole new world of pain.
I was offered ‘Hot Stones?’ and I had a vision of a Spa, with stones resting on my back.
But not in this case…
The hot stones simply replaced thumbs, knuckles, elbows, etc. to dig into me with.
And each pair of stones just got hotter and hotter!
By the time the hour was up, I felt like a tenderised steak, but completely stress free.
As I type this now, I am conscious that I really don’t sit properly.
So, I will try to improve my WFH set up and will definitely book another Thai massage.
(My wife is also going to book a session there.)
Website is crap, but the massage is amazing!
Cheers, Paul.
PS
Forgot to add £50 for 1 hour.
Nice work!
Someone from my running recommended a Thai massage over a sports one, not sure of the rationale, but if it’s left you feeling better for it, great!!!
Me?
Training?
Too much of a “one track mind”
So I painted more of the basement last night.
Absolute back killer being down there (6ft ceiling, I’m 6ft 2in
)
It’s now pretty blinding being down there, with the brilliant white instead of magnolia

I love a story with a happy ending. Hope your neck is feeling better!
@GeordieM - I see what you did there.
Go and stand in the naughty corner for a while.
Jokes aside, my neck feels great, right up until I start typing this and realise I am a sloucher.
Cheers, Paul.
Perhaps a new office chair might help? Or sitting on a Swiss ball? I used to get a sore back in the office then they upgraded all the knackered old swivel chairs to Herman Miller knock-offs and that really helped me.
13.5km trail run this morning, bit of a random number, but there you go. Almost 250m ascending/descending.
6x10 push-ups.
Well that was a disaster.7.5kminto an easy runs and Achilles has gone tight I have to walk 6km home😩
Nightmare, easy massage or go to that Thai place mentioned on the other thread
back now. &.5km of easy running and 5km of walking. I suppose it counts as time on feet!
I’m not sure where I’m going wrong, trying to do all the right things re hip. Put a call into the physio so we’ll see. I can’t shake this feeling that my body, whilst mobile, is shifting into a different phase of pace/ability. I hope not.
