Still fairly new on this forum but thought I would chip in on this thread.
12 hours 46 this week - just over 1000 tss
2 swims - 56 minutes
9 rides - 9 hours 23 (mainly easy commuting)
3 runs - 2 hours 25
All fairly easy going, gutted though as today’s long ride got canned as I only took one tube out with me and punctured after 40 minutes, so turned for home. Had planned my first OW swim of the year too on Sat am but 4 nappy changes on the new born through the night put a stop to that too.
3 swims - 10*100m on 1:30 off 2:00. 2 * 1.9km swims. Open water was ~32 mins, pool was just under 31mins. Go figure !?
3 bikes - One hour indoor spin, 90 minutes outdoor intervals, 60km outdoors after the 1.9km pool swim at 84% FTP (36kmh) as race prep. THERE WAS WIND AND RAIN AND I WORE A TRISUIT!
35 miles of running (or 56.3km).
A few easy ones, an easy half marathon midweek, some intervals and a 10km brick run off the 60km bike this morning. Managed 40:36. Capped HR at 156bpm, which is HIM race pace
Yes the struggle is real. Trying to get it all done when the kids are asleep. Swim time has really suffered whilst I’ve manage to keep the bike and run ticking over. Note to self. Don’t enter an iron distance with a newborn…
This was my biggest week in 2 or 3 years. Still going to look pretty poor when measured against many on here, but it was a good one for me, and my aching legs are telling me I pushed them hard.
2 hours across 2 open water swims totalling just over 6km, pretty much on race pace (for me)
7 hours on the TT bike, with most of that at pretty tough intensity (more like half Ironman effort on average)
4 hours of running
So “only” 13 hours, but I am averaging 8-9 a week.
Roth and IM Wales are on the calendar. Got to get a 5 hour ride in soon, but waiting for my new road bike to arrive for that.
320k on the bike - 6 rides. 160k today. Lots of elevation
2 “hilly” turbo sessions
50k off road hilly terrain inc a 3 hour 32k
6k swimming with 3.8k yesterday.
I’m feeling i might actually finish the swissman.
Have ditched the tri bike after lots of advice and set up the r3 disc with bars and seat forwards. Now to find some fast hoops
15 hours this week planned inc another 100 miler next sunday. Then 2 week taper.
I only started this training block in mid April and its so much better than the long 16 or 20 weekers.
10.5 hrs for me. Swimming’s starting to click. Did a CSS swim set on Friday that felt comfortably hard rather than feeling like I’m about to vomit in the pool.
100 mile bike yesterday, practicing pacing at 0.7IF, which I nailed and it felt pretty easy. Should be able to run off that relatively comfortably. A couple of TrainerRoad turbo sets during the week to bulk it out.
However, tweaked my right calf earlier in the week so no long run today and I’ll have to see how it goes this week before the Cotswold Half at the weekend, otherwise it might be a long walk.
4 day Windsurfing competition for me in South of France… But just one windy day, so 4 hours windsurfing.
Friday 4000m open water swim, first 2000 felt great, next 1000 OK final 1000 awful
Saturday 100 mile ride, average speed over 20mph, average power 175w. Did my good deed for the day, as I came across a family, out for a ride, unfortunately, one of them had a broken chain, and they were about 10km from anywhere. Luckily had my chain link remover, so got them going again
1 x 10km as hard as i could (semi solo … had a mate keeping me company on a bike)
1 x parkrun which turned out to be another SB. 10 secs off a couple of weeks ago and only 5 secs off my all time PB set a few years ago.
Hoping to kick on with a bit of consistency and tweak the mileage up if possible. My aim is to get up to 2 x hard sessions a week with at least 50km of mileage. I might alternate one of the harder sessions with a longer run if i feel like it’s too much in one week. Not got any fixed plans now, so going to try to remain as flexible as i can.
Keep umming and ahhing over targeting a 10km in July, but need to decide now really.
edit oh and Runalyze has given me an estimated VO2 max of 69
Haha - i plan, execute and think in kms. But i think mileage as a term is imprinted into my lexicon. In the car i would talk in terms of miles - obviously due to the road system - but as soon as i am walking/swimming/cycling/running etc the it’s back to kms. I did quite enjoy working in kms in the car when i was in France though.
KM’s all the way for me, and I sometimes start converting distances on the fly while I’m driving, but it’s hard speaking to some of my friends when they talk about pacing in miles, I haven’t got a clue really. It’s so much easier in K’s
Half term this last week so pleased to get anything TBH. Solid interval run doing IM run pace with (slightly) faster little chunks. Swimming starting to come back a bit. Cycling was meh but all skewed by riding a 107 mile sportive yesterday that went well enough. Back to a few solid weeks of proper training now. Also, managed 3 hours of skiing with the child and her friend
Tell me about it. My third was born in Jan and it’s only been since the start of May that I’ve managed to get enough sleep to start training a bit more.
