Training - What Training?!

Just swim today.
I think my shoulders would have just stopped working had I picked up the paddles

On reflection, I think I would have preferred the walking the dog option

Speaking of “walking the dog”…

…do you ever do drills?
Like doggy paddle?
Either full or half scull - focussing on that catch?

Or like (25m HARD, 50m mod, 25m easy) to simulate a race start?

Mix up the strokes - bit of breast, back or even fly?
Just working those other muscle groups.

Any kick?

No training except Tuesday bike and run this week.

Real life has taken precedence.

As I mentioned in the swim thread, I really struggle with drills.

I can go up and down doing all the “right” things, but struggle to apply them to my stroke. That’s why I try and do it in those long sets. So might do one 509m focusing on my rotation or my hand entry.

Basically it’s my left arm that’s rubbish

Unfortunately my diet seems to be based on a 20 hour week :grimacing:

Bit of CBA this morning
Laid in bed until 7 listening to the wind

Dragged myself to the gym

1150m swim
1350m pull and paddles avoiding Doris who wanted to swim head up breast stroke whilst talking to her mate in the next lane

Forgot my socks, so has to decide on a run session that would be productive but without ripping my feet to shreds

Went with

6 x 2 mins at 10.5mph - 60s recovery
4 x 40:20s at 12mph

Minor bleeding

You have soft soft skin!
I’ve ran sockless in mine with zero bleeding (only 4.5km like)

I have ridiculously soft feet, not a mm of hard skin anywhere. I’d show you, but you know, trotter shots.

But nothing screams Ironman louder than watching me mince acrosss a pebbly beach at the start of a race

Whereas i’m the opposite from spending all my days barefoot.

When i did IM Wales i didn’t bother with any shoes during the km or so T1.5 across town from the beach to transition. Just ran on the roads barefoot.

Couldn’t tell you what I wore for that, just spent the whole time worrying about losing the purple T0.5 bag

That was part of the reason. I just ran straight past it, left it on the peg. No worrying about sandy shoes or rubbish etc.Left loads of people for dust that were flapping about trying to get trainers on and stuff.

My paws were like leather when I played football and I had to try and soften the skin.

Complete opposite now :man_shrugging:t2:

Hour in the TT position

Not sure it could get more evenly paced

Struggling with time, so just a 4km treadmill blast.

Still feels odd swimming Saturday morning instead of parkrun.

2km drills 1:40/100m :rofl::see_no_evil:
