Training - What Training?!

We’ve all done that, right?

@gingerbongo “dared” me to do it last year, so I went out with a hangover and just about managed it

Died an absolute death at 140km.
Then it started snowing.
In May. FFS :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

Here’s another from JUNE, FFS :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:
Where @mw22 had done a similar route, based on my local knowledge the week or so previous.

I swear to God, if it rains on one summer ride this year, I’m quitting cycling.

Day off today, but yesterday morning 30 minute spin class, in the evening 1.9k swimming TT is 33 minutes.

Sodding Garmin playing up, will revert to the correct thread.

Forget aero bars I may as well stick a basket on the front of my bike for all the good it will do me

Easy run, mix of trail and road with a 27.11 parkrun thrown in the middle  Beautiful early morning on the trails :+1:

Nice! Glad you could get out and have a nice run - weather looks gorgeous :sun_with_face::sun_with_face::sun_with_face:

Beautiful morning for a jog around the woods

28K trail run, followed by a 3k trot/walk back to the car. Glorious weather but still hard going, not sure I’ve recovered from last Sunday yet.

Taper time now before next week, bit of Zwift tomorrow though probably due to time constraints.

35 minutes hard on the treadmill, all uphill.

Too ill to get out the door. Going to go and lie in the park under a tree

Anybody seen the ultra white collar boxing ads on social media

Train with a boxing gym for 8 weeks and fight someone similar ability/ weight etc for cancer

Training alone would be interesting

A colleague signed up for this but when it came to fight day half the people didn’t show up and those that did weren’t near each others weights so it was all a bit of a mess really.

Ah interesting. Was the training good? Can you achieve much in 2 months particularly as a complete novice?…

Not too much, no, it was part fitness gains and a bit of technique added in to try and stop people just whaling at each other.

There was a BBC programme about it a few years ago following a couple of people and when it came to fight day they started off ‘properly’ but in some fights it descended into windmilling arms quick soon.

Casual 13k cycle in the sunshine to the pool. 1500m doing various bits and bobs. Another casual 13k cycle in the sunshine home. Very nice way to end a lovely week.

Ready for the snow that’s forecast here for Wednesday…

Did my first club run in ages today, only one other person there though so not completely sure it counted… 76km in 2:37 193 AP 221NP @131 HR struggled a bit on the steep little rises… but apparently this was enough for garmin to think my cycling VO2max needed to go up… I think perhaps my HR is a bit suppressed.

Only 8.2km running after that, my shortest run in quite awhile, still 75km for the week.

Cheshire Cat sportive today.
Long version - 165km, 1850m
6:30 ride time, 30 mins faffing for the loo, food and drinks. Also waited at the top of a climb for someone for a couple of mins after his chain dropped.

More than happy with that. Jumped in a pack for the final 30km which made average speed higher and was hard work as they were a lot stronger (even did my pulls on the front!)

Done this in my LAST ever fight.

It was enjoyable but has lots of flaws.

Certainly gets you fit.

Oh you did one? Your last ever fight!?

100%.

Too old for that game now, looking sharp on the pads isn’t the same as being smashed in the head … if they use pillow gloves it doesn’t actually hurt unless the weights of the fighters are way out, which can happen.

It’s the longest 180 seconds of your life but it can be good fun.

Got a 16km run in Friday afternoon after the gym, 173km gravel ride Saturday to Stonehenge and back, 50%+ off road, 1500m. Glorious day and some lovely trails! Now sporting some tan lines on the arms! Sunday 30km ride on some byways with a friend.

I’ve done some mtb around there. Those blond tank track roads are made for gravel bikes!
