Training - What Training?!

Did a 9km jog.
No magic shoes.
Felt like Earvin Johnson, though :grimacing::basketball_man:t4::basketball::wastebasket:

I do love that my first 100m is always effortless, smooth and fast (fast for me - before you all start).
The last 100m really trying… and slower

“Be smooth like Poet” ringing in my ears entire session

21.3km steady run for me with a 6km tempo section in the middle on the seafront. Warm and humid today!

Starting to feel good though. Legs were a bit tired as I’ve been upping my workload, but they soon settled in.

Much better than that swimming nonsense!

That pool used to be like a fricking bath.
So that’s a decent effort.
My head would’ve exploded.

As for @gingerbongo - he’s like the kid at school who’s ace at football, but as soon as he’s on the rugby or lacrosse field, he shits a brick and gets his Mum to write him a note for the next one :joy::see_no_evil:

FWIW - he’s just gone out on his lunch and ran a 1:29:34 half marathon. I hope he enjoys his Strava badge.

Temp was fine. Last week it was like open water. It did used to be hot.

It’s very average… But very little shoulder pain in 2 swims is a very nice improvement for me.

Lacrosse, which school did you go to :flushed:

Point taken though, and I think he was good at football

Nah wrong bloke there mate. Played County level rugby in Wales, even as a kid half the size of everyone else. Centre and full back as well, not scrum half! I was a tough, fearless tackler.

Played footy for years and was not very good. I was just fast, fit and very physical. But I had a 50p head and couldn’t shoot or cross for shit! :joy:

I absolutely love the biff. It’s anything that required fine motor control that I totally suck at - tennis, cricket, golf, squash etc. Again, good at running around the court but shite with the racket! :joy:

Oh and @Poet the half was actually done in 1.28.25 :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes::rofl:

Okay, so if we could merge my “doesn’t swim in ages, can still just about muster 1:30/100m” and your “does no proper run training, but can still do 4:12/km with his eyes closed” and @funkster 's diesel bike engine, I think we’ve got the makings of an above average age grouper who can still have a life

Went swimming.
Got in a RAGE driving there against some dick splat who seemed incapable of turning left with no traffic coming.
Anyways…

Stale 16.4° in the lake.
400m 6:10 warm up. Annoyed not to dip under 6:00.

1500m straight in 23:22.
Again, pissed off not to dip under 22:30 :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

At Booths now buying all the booze to cheer me up.
Crap day.
