Training - What Training?!

I had intended to paint some skirting boards this afternoon before new carpets fitted at the weekend. Currently looking at them and thinking if I bend down there, will I ever get up?

Worst job ever!
Have you sanded them nicely?
Watch all of the satin / gloss just drip :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

Then when you’ve finally done them they look lovely
But it shows how crap the doorframes and windows are then :frowning::sob:

Don’t do it. It’s not worth it.

I was going to remove the architrave from the bathroom and scrub all the old plaster crap off the walls. But yeah, nah!

First part of the Staffs 70.3 course.
37km ish 75mins ish, just easy.

Oh. My. Days.
It is grim for the first 25km odd.
Some lovely speed scrubbing right turns, left turns halfway down hills.
Road surfaces look abysmal, too.

Erm, yeah…

IRL or on rouvy?

I just did a short run to drop the car in Exmouth. Didn’t get in until gone 11 last night, so very tired. Didn’t have time for breaky so just went straight out the door.

Oh that was a bad day to do a fasted run! :man_facepalming:t3: After yesterday’s exertions, and I didn’t have any snacks after dinner. I thought I was gonna die on about km 5 of 7! :joy: :joy: I’m such a sugar burner!

FulGaz now, innit.

I didn’t have my Strava connected, so had to download to .FIT file manually and upload it to Strava…

…which is funny, 'cos it’s matched the segments against when I previously did them over a decade ago
I basically know the northern part of the route above Kings Bromley, until it comes back to Rugeley.

Yeah, it’s more lanes that first section from memory. Lots of high hedges and not knowing what’s round the next corner

Exactly that, plus some nice industry and grim housing :expressionless:
A few big roads, too, nice roundabout from the M6 (toll?) too!

Not looking forward to going UP Draycott at the western side :frowning:
Then the BIG hill back at Rugeley/Cannock - flat and fast, erm, yeah right!

Probably looking at 2:45 now. Great.

They angle it as rolling don’t they?

There are a couple of bumps as you come back into Stafford too, I was definitely over the hills by then. Most of them are fine and you can just power up them but they do appear all throughout the route. I don’t think I used the litre ring though (possibly contributing to my shit run)

It’s not a quick course but it is fun, I was pleased to dip under 2:30

@funkster posted an image a few weeks ago where they were calling it “flat and fast” they’ve now changed that to “hilly and meandering”

But yeah, it’s “rolling”

FulGaz is massively different to Zwift!
A 10% climb actually feels like 10% :+1:t3:
You can also adjust the CDA for what bike you’re on, too.

It’s useful to see the route.
I reckon it’ll all be fine on race day :+1:t3:

Well my training hours are up on 2019

That’s really interesting. I kind of assumed your volume was even more than that based on your long zwifts, freqeuent swims and morning runs.

Here’s my stats - about 7 hours per week last year, very similar this year. Not much very long, but something most days. Apart from November, no idea what happened there - might have lost my watch behind the sofa for a couple of weeks thinking about it

Edit, just clicked on July to see what that massive spike was - “Evening ride, 12 hours at 2W” - must have left the watch running by mistake then uploaded. Have deleted now, reducing July total to 28 hours

How do you get to that view???
ETA: 'Cos it’s Strava, innit!!!

2020 was a right off
2021 was dominated by running (for those failed goals)
2022 started with aiming to do 2 hours a day

Was mostly looking that my volume is much higher than 2019, so hoping that translates in a few weeks

Did a 13.5km jog.
Nearly fell asleep.
Just bored with every session recently :frowning:

I hear ya. I’m sitting on a grand total of 33kms running so far this week and 55kms riding.

Race is 3wks away, close to think ‘fuck it’ and too far away for taper. Work isn’t helping!

This is the problem I was having and one reason why I gave up on the Cotswold race. Was just bored, didnt want to do it.

Went off and did something different and enjoyed that more. If the sessions become a chore they just wont get done.
