You have got to do whats right for you, obviously. But as a counter-argument, what if your A race (?Frankfurt) turns out to be wall to wall rain?
Isn’t there some benefit in knowing you did a half in those conditions? Tested your bad weather kit, strategy etc.
I guess maybe you are experienced enough that you don’t need this though- but even so isn’t there the mild frisson of pitting yourself against a bad day & seeing how you get on compared to your targets, and compared to other poor folk?
(Mainly trying to convince myself here that I still want to set the alarm clock for 4.30 am )
Biblical here.
Sacked off my run.
I always tell my self I might do it when I get back from Derby, but I’m stiff as a board after driving, it’s 6pm and I’m starving. So never do
Turns out the ride up to the windfarm is (a) quite a climb, and (b) very windy. Who would have thought it?
Was the view worth the amount of swearing at myself I had to do to get my little chicken legs to keep spinning round, and the gel exploding all over my face when I hit a wee hole in the road while opening it? I’m going to say…
CTL is the highest is has been for racing duathlon and I’m 2.5kg lighter than I was when I raced worlds. I have 4 days of easy stuff and race next Friday.
Big week for me with the days off, managed 255k cycling and most of it was IRL. But managed Bologna on Zwift for a decent workout.
4 runs but only 36K, although the long one was a trail run with about 500M vert, and the parkrun was a hard workout.
Swimming still not great with 3 swims but managed to get the longest up 2.6k so heading in the right direction, really need to get the other swims around 2k. (and get in the bloody river!)
Not feeling too bad either as it was mostly easy pace except the parkrun and Bologna.
Won’t managed that next week with being back at work, also got an Oly on Saturday so probably won’t get a long ride in but might see if I can do an easy hour after the race. Will probably have Friday off or maybe some swim drills.
