Training - What Training?!

That was my first thought!

Missed my run yesterday and swim today due to family issues.

Based on the fact it’s ‘only’ a hobby I think we can let that pass! even if it is a hobby which gives a release from issues at times, imho

First 12k lunch run on tarmac for a while. Decent Z2 effort on small country lanes always used by cyclists. Didn’t expect to see a chap riding an Ordinary though!

Ankle feeling great. 3 months for that to heal, and to think after I did I thought I’d be OK to run 10k race after 5 days :lemon:

I didn’t do anything yesterday as I don’t think the back of my left quad is happy. I’ll see how things feel today, I may go for an easy mtb ride later.

Not really the right thread but I hope you & your family are getting the correct support, it certainly sounds like you’re all going through it atm :hugs:

Managed a 25K run tonight, was definitely just one of those get it done runs, not particularly enjoyable, legs felt heavy but it went fairly quickly. Did 3K tempo towards the end to get the legs used to some effort when tired.

I find that the running by the side of the river is very similar terrain to the alps

Hour approx OW swim :man_swimming: late evening yesterday. Didn’t have garmin

Absolutely perfect conditions. Flat calm, not a ripple. Sunny evening with that sort of orange glow. Had place to myself. Jumped in about 8:30pm. Superb.

Shame can’t race next weekend tbh - ballsacks

Did some vert training, repeats of Cathy’s Hill. All steps and all walking with loaded vest.

The Plague has a ton of steps at the start and end. Probably too little too late.

Nice FP! What did you have in the vest? and how long have you got till The Plague?

I wore my Adv Skin 12 with bottles gels, some bars, head torch, coat and poles.

2 wks until Plague, I’m in that horrible in between zone. Bit worried about cut offs but can’t do much about that.

Quad is not happy, so going to do some mtb stuff instead

Hope the quad feels better soon. Take it easy though, I expect you still have some fatigue from E24. Mtb sounds good :+1:

Did my first ever bit of Fartlek training today. Just 30 mins of 3mins on/2 mins off. Bizarrely Strava has registered a 20 second 5K PB somewhere in the middle of it, which as nice as that is, I guess means I’m not going slow enough in the ‘off’ sections?

Or does it not really matter as long as there is sufficient difference between the pace of the two bits (today it was about 50-60seconds/km)?
