Running into a slightly minor and annoying logistical problem. Originally me and my riding partner had planned to take our bikes with us via hard shell bike boxes on the plane to Belgium and then get the empty boxes shipped down to Greece to try and reduce the risk of knackered bikes coming out from the airport, however shipping an empty bike box is looking incredibly expensive at 200-300 each. Bar going for the cardboard box option or paying through the nose. Does anyone have any good ideas? Its also extra annoying as when we sorted out flights Eurostar wouldnāt take bikes to Brussels, as of this month they now do which would have been the better option
For some reason I expected there would be a van that would take stuff like that to the finish line.
Could competitors club together to do that?
is this still on?
Great pics, good luck with the final days of prep.
Looking forward to tracking!
Oosh, love it. Good luck @Matthew_Spooner & enjoy. Look forwad to tracking.
Youāll never get that spare rider in those bags
Donāt worry, its inflatableā¦ did you watch airplane?
Looking at all the bike pictures now being posted, seems like most people have gone with gravel bikes for TCR. There are a few pretty old road bikes without disc brakes - clearly they will all crash on the descents in the Alps. Christopher Strasserās Roubaix looks really nice, I see he has switched to Shimano groupset this year.
If I were mad enough to do something like this Iād be tempted by calliper brakes. Easily serviced in the field.
Good luck and have an amazing time @Matthew_Spooner
Tritalkās very own @Sowler and his riding partner Sarah Ruggins are the favourits to win the TCR pairs raceā¦ no pressure then John
Fuuucckkk
I think their idea of āones to watchā might be different to mine and yours
They are only interested in Sarah - you are clearly the baggage
In the immortal words of IMJ, ādonāt be shit, youāve got thisā
Good luck to both of you, I have ambitions around this kind of event, so will be dot watching.
Looking forward to tracking this, itāll fill a Tour de France sized hole and get me though those few days when youāre a bit lost once the TdF is done
Yeah my story isnāt interesting enough Also Iām sure it will help to get more females into the sport!
So are you going to win this or what? Pack lots of sunscreen
Not sure Iāll be dot watching but Iāve now got you both on Strava so please upload regularly with plenty of photos - youāll have lots of spare time to do that Iām sure
No fucking chance
Iām trying to break it down into mentally manageable chunks and not think about the enormity of it. Those first two chunks are to hopefully make a rather large distance in 22-24 hours and then get to CP1. Anything after that is bonus territory.
