TT Smackdown 2025

So the next email is out from Graeme.

After that, around the start of June, you’ll have a window in which you can choose a specific wave and/or race number.

I’m keen to go off in wave 1, how about everyone else?

Anyone fancy getting a little cluster together for the race numbers?

Yeah , definitely a tri talk wave :+1:

Will there be enough sand to go round?

Reckon anyone with a disc wheel should fill it with sand which could spray out through little drill holes in the rim as they fly past the rest of us

Look you lot. I have imposter syndrome, not a silica carrying problem.

(to be clear i don’t mind the ‘bants’ in the slightest, i enjoy it, but there is a shred of truth to that statement. I was thinking about it the other day - probably one for the Existential thread perhaps).

You are assuming people with disc wheels are slower swimmers there.

I mean, it’s a correct assumption.

@gingerbongo - Eh? You’ve ran a 1:17 HM (haven’t you?) You’re CatB on Zwift with 3.7W/kg, and can swim 35 minutes pretty easily. I doubt you have anything to worry about!
16:47 5km
2:52 at “short” Manchester marathon

You are inside the Top 1% of all UK parkrunners

Yeah and this is coming from Mr Cat A racer himself!!!

Although my running is gradually improving I am a long way off where I was last time I did a half and that run was 1:40:xx, I will be happy with under 2 hrs with where I am right now.

I’ve got a pretend disc wheel.
I definitely can’t swim…

I was really hoping to get a head start

'Kin 'ell, you lot, 'eh?

Who is actually doing this?
Is there a list?

I know @Jorgan isn’t going, after I completely crushed him back in 2019

He was going long that year :joy:

There are a few of us who take this hobby semi-seriously and still aren’t particularly quick. It will be a nice day out.

Are we all doing beers the night before or after the race?

Reminds me of an old TT1.0 guy, @Adam /s mate…seems to like several ales the night before iron distance races. Good hydration strategy

Absolutely. I am up for a beer the night before and/or soft drink after as I have a lng drive home. My borther and SiL are doing it too so will try and drag them along if we’re meeting up.

Yeah, Leigh.

Puts several pints away before big races

I had a couple with him at the 2019 Outlaw and that was me done, he kept bloody going

Yeah I think everyone gets smashed the night before!!
Obviously I don’t drink; but I’ll have some high sugar energy drink or something so I don’t sleep very well to level the playing field

What’s that IM sponsored stuff - Athletic Brewing?!

My mate got contacted by them recently and they chucked him a load to give away at his events. Apparently they’re not bad.

I’m hoping to get up the night before in my mate’s campervan and just park up in the car park/field if i can
