No work having to be squeezed in there somewhere?! :joy:

Well the pub hasn’t been able to get me a reservation for 4 (they must have heard about my kids table manners, I don’t like to clean up after them either!) so my appearance will be fleeting if at all.

We’ll probably pop in briefly to wish everyone the best of luck, I’ll order a round of tequila slammers for the table on my way out and we’ll leave you to an evening of pre-race debauchery.

Fancy some childcare duties? My Missus will be spectating around transition with a couple of wild uncontrollable kids.

"Swim: Can’t believe how fast all these sandbaggers are swimming. Off the back already, otherwise swim was uneventful until someone shouted ā€œshark!ā€. Fastest T1 ever in adrenalin fuelled sprint.

Bike: Go off too fast chasing all these people in new trisuits. Measure a few gaps in the out and back sections, and everyone else looks super chilled. Out onto lap 2 and I realise I’ve gone too fast, but have to save face so keep on pushing too fast. Will worry about it later.

Run: Lap1 – this is easy, maybe I didn’t bike too fast. Lap2 – OK, maybe not so easy. Lap3 – Yeah, really shouldn’t have chased the bike so hard. Thought these sandbaggers said they would be walking by now? It’s quite hot isn’t it? *** log, *** cramp, *** energy. Just finish. Cross the line, dip in the lake, which is even shallower now thanks to all the extra sand deposited."

Have you hacked my phone?
That’s my race report in my Notes :joy::see_no_evil:

Today will be:

  • Get kit together and pack what I can
  • Short swim
  • Short run
  • Buy snacks for drive and lunch for tomorrow
  • Fill the car up

Tomorrow ill be quick spin on the bike to make sure all is well there. Head off as soon as possible, minimising my procrastiantion so I have plenty of time to get registered and then if possible a dip in the lake.

The outsole is designed to be grippy on wet surfaces. I used the MS+ on mixed surfaces and it copes well enough

Now I’m debating the Alpha’s
Whack enough Vaseline in them, my feet and socks and that should prevent any rubbing, right?

It’s the tongue slipping on the Next% and the Meta’s that’s getting my nerves jangling.

My 4% are totally fried, so would not use them for something of this distance.

GAH :person_facepalming:t4::face_with_peeking_eye:

Yeah I should be, pending me getting my potentially hungover arse back from B’ham in time.

I have enjoyed thread like @Paul_L and cannot wait to read the post incident reports. Have a good one

Just took the swim skin for it’s maiden outing.
Ideal for the temp of the lake… There were some proper hot spots today.
Comfy, much less faff to get on than a full suit and better for my shoulder.
But swam 2:30 slower for a 1200m loop than I did last week :person_shrugging:
I did a 1900 the other week in proper skins and was only 3min slower than suited.
Dunno what to do Sunday now

I would swim skins for comfort but I’m probabaly a fair bit slower without the floatation aid so will go wettie. If I had a swim skin I would go with that.

3 minutes is huge.
I got my wettie off in <30s last night.

Including nearly tripping over, having everyone stare at this lunatic darting out of the water at 16kmh after doing three loops and lapping people :joy::see_no_evil:

For 750m, in future, I’d go skins.
If the swim is shortened on Sunday, say to <1.2km, I’d also go skins.
But for anything over that, the extra few seconds a wetsuit gives are worth it.

Vaseline and baby oil are your friend here.

Which reminds me, I’ve got a wetsuit tear to repair

It is… But it also doesn’t make sense.
I won’t get mine off that quick… I’ll also boil swimming.
Will have calf guards on so vaseline won’t do much there.

This was me a fortnight ago :+1:t3:
I’m a couple of seconds difference over 750-800m.
It was 3s.
Which is neither here nor there.
But over 1.9km, there will be a laziness to my skins stroke creeping in, plus for me, I get cold easily.

So whilst I think skins will be quicker on paper (marginally!) I’m going with a suit.

Also - PANIC ATTACKS!
I’d rather have a suit on for when I start breaststroke after 200m :joy::see_no_evil:

It happened again last night.
I stood under the cold shower before getting in, then bobbed about for 3-5 minutes before setting off.

It’s now doing my skull in.
Also, I saw loads of pike and carp last night, which scare me :fish::fishing_pole_and_fish:
They are fricking HUGE
