You are getting on a bit
You know that gym place you hateā¦
Was that you
Cheered me right up that
guilty!!! you were looking strong, maybe not frodo strong, but still strong
There is as much chance of Donald Trump heading up Greenpeace as me setting foot in a gym!
are you really slow though? There are a million answers on getting faster, and there are far better qualified TTers on here to respond. But, If thereās one single thing thatās changed my power and speed over the last three years, its big gear low cadence works turbo sessions, lots of them. I used to happily tap at 85rpm and X watts, now iām racing around 70 rpm and pushing much higher power. Its taken a couple of years.
I mentioned previously (I think) I have a mild C scoliosis and when I used to horse at a decent level I always getting told off for tipping my head a little to the left. I do it on my bike when I am working. No idea why but suspect the scoliosis might be it. I didnāt know I had until I was nearly 40 and donāt suffer in anyway as a result of it. Not saying you have one just that maybe you look wonky because you are and if so it isn;t an issue.
But get in the gym, I mean you practically live on the beach. Hench is the way forward.
Forget waht @chickenboy says about improving your bike. Raise your saddle 5cm and that will do it. What does he know?
Look at the calves on that fella!
Ex dairy farmer ('s son) innit
Damn it! I forgot to talk to you about that. One yard I worked at was 1/2 racing yard, 1/2 dairy farm. Cows are ace, unless youāre stood behind within 4m of them when they projectile shit.
Iām game for that!
Iāll take the swim. Over quicker and more time on the beers.
Is this @mw22 casually making his way through the finish area? (113 insta story today)
I was more searching the horizon for fluid. Some of us found it bl00dy hot. Think my face is the same colour as the carpet.
Those medals are comically large!
It was barely 20° when we finished
Mind you, that first aid station seemed to be MILES away.
My Garmin disagrees (all garmin stats are 100% accurateā¦sometimes!).
Obviously thatās your wrist temperature
Iāve an erroneous 27° max temp, which was probably the temperature in the portaloo (not the woods!)
Yeah that looks says āscrew the medal, got beer?ā
Was obviously hotter in my bubble. I was out there faaaar longer. And - not having your rapid speed - I didnāt have the benefit of wind chill cooling me down.
It was definitely hotter than 20 for me. I was running so much faster, easier and without any breaks in the wooded section - hit the tarmac and HR just spiked every time.
Tarmac reflects the heat as well remember, so that will make it feel much hotter. Along with the high hedges on the road section trapping the heat.
