TT smackdown 2026

Anyone up for a TT race 2026?

@jeffb has sort of floated this on 5th August

Don’t be fooled by the name “long course”, it’s basically a sprint and pretty flat :lying_face:

Or maybe a UK based race?

Plenty of time to get to ADH

Good man @Bob

I see that IM Lanza is May 23rd next year and this appears to be compatible with half term holidays :light_bulb:

Feels like a bargain at 655 euros all in! Compared to Copenhagen.

No matter what I target I always seem to peak in May

I’m about 90% yes I think, despite saying never again after 2010 there’s been an itch for the last few years to return. If it’s not full in early October I’ll probably pull the trigger, got too much to pay for this month unfortunately.

I’m quite interested in Leeds. It would give me a reason to get running again. I say this every year though, so probably best to ignore me. As I said in the other thread, I’d do AdH again but wouldn’t want to commit to all the travel etc at this stage. Pretty sure you can enter until quite late, though.

Floated the idea of Lanza to Mrs FT and the response was alarmingly non-negative :scream:

This requires a reality check, IM’s a long way isn’t it? Not sure & will definitely not risk visiting the website like @Bob just yet.

I’ll save you some time, cheaper entries the sooner you press go

As Jeff says, it’s only going to get more expensive. Considering it is Ironman weekend and half term, prices for flights and accommodation are still reasonable for some reason.

Bollocks. First time Lanza has been half term for years and my mother in-law has a trip to Italy booked for her 70th…

There are flights from Italy to Lanza surely.

Tell your mother in law she can do IM Lanza next year instead :+1:

The probabilityometer has swung from 0% to at least 50% in the FT household. There’s talk of staying on the next week and making it a family bash with the boys and their GFs :crossed_fingers:t2:

It’s the first weekend of my half term, so finish Friday / race Saturday. Not going to happen. TBF even if it was the middle weekend it still wouldn’t happen, but nice to dream. I am however still looking out for IM Leeds registration.

Guess if we did Lanza I’d probably head out solo the week before & then the teacher types fly out on race day, probably in time to offer “run course support” from an Irish pub in Puerto del Carmen.

Which is a worrying level of detail to be thinking about, when 24h ago the furthest I had in mind was Blandford park run.

Think @jeffb is to blame for starting this

Me :man_shrugging:t2:

I suggested France :joy:

Think he’s suggesting Lanza as a warm up to France. You know, as a bit of hill training.
