A remote control mains switch is handy - lets you start the fan after you’re warmed up.

Nice ride @gingerbongo
Sacked off 50TT as riding a DC in the rain is not my idea of fun; so let’s see if the 12:00 Etape is a decent substitute…
Was wondering if you all went, don’t blame you not wanting to ride a DC course in the wet, it’s so frustrating when that happens after all the good weather.
Think 2 rode, one other sacked.
Morning not wasted as swam 3k in the sea and did the 11am Etape. 278th, 3.4 w/kg, 1:30:xx for the whole route but felt harder than that with HR riding a little high for the effort.
Possibly 3:30am start, 3 hours in car for a race I sacked then 3k sea swim is less than ideal prep.
Route is a right old slog, not having section splits for each turn etc like the Alpe makes it mentally tough.
Champs-Elysees Discovery route is split into cats!
I’ve opted for the easier C cat!
I did Volcano climb last night to tick the badge off.
Also got the paired badge as I got some homeplug adaptors in the garage, it looks like the pairing only works via WIFI. I now know what everyone means about the companion app I’d never seen that bit before.
Think I have left - Quatch quest, road to sky, PRL full routes (france and paris later), and 100 ride ons and 25 alpe climbs
Champs-Elysees Discovery 6pm ride, 62nd-ish Cat B out of 180 starters, 3.42w/kg so heading in the right direction
My computrainer decided it didn’t want to calibrate and connect, so 5 minutes sitting on the start line and then did the whole thing solo
ouch, think I might have been tempted to bin it
Surely you are never Cat C?
I am and am nowhere near as strong as you.
Did the British Tri Hare & Hound tonight. Got in the front group of 5 and we pushed hard all the way. Didn’t get caught and picked off a couple of stragglers.
Got beat in the sprint by 0.65 seconds
Decent 35min throw down.
ah mate your starts
I really struggle to be bothered on Zwift.
FTP is only 3.5W/kg and there’s no way I’m doing that in the basement for an hour!
3.2W/kg in CatB is 91% intensity, so it’s a super hard workout really.
At the moment, I’m just enjoying exercising and ticking the routes off.
I don’t really want to do anything too hard with nothing on the horizon.
Also, June’s training of 16hrs, 21hrs, 15hrs, 32hrs has caught up with me and I’m now a bit tired
Felt really really good for the second week of July, then I’ve just gone downhill.
I’m not surprised, that’s a fair load
I’m not on Z much at all, just dip in and out for the odd race or group ride. Certainly haven’t been chasing badges or worlds or whatever it is people do.
It bores me to tears just riding on Z, fair play to those that enjoy it.
Zwift have bought Zwift Power so that will probably mean it is a complete shitshow, according to many more knowledgeable people than me.
RGT have got a good ride on tonight at 7:30pm
Lake District ride Up Newlands, Winlatter and Honister. 80 bots also riding at 2-3w/kg for some draft.

When entering a Zwift ride are you supposed to join the Cat that fits your FTP or the w/kg you will ride that ride at?
I was right on the limit last night of B/C but my FTP is solid C. A handful more watts and I’d have been over 3.2. Would that have got me kicked out on ZP?
Yes - your result would have been invalidated on ZP.
You should enter at the W/kg you can ride at for that duration.
I’ve entered a B previously, so any C results won’t count.
But I’m not hanging on for grim death in a B cat race when I want to have a ride!
Not so sure that’s right @Poet? Surely the power numbers listed on the event pages are your FTP rather than estimated effort for the race. Otherwise it would make no sense, because the values listed don’t ever seem to change regardless of a 20min or 2hour race.
ZP calculates your category based off 20min power * 0.95 so your ZP cat is ‘fixed’ - so I wouldn’t all of a sudden enter a C cat race just because for 2hours I expect to ride at 3.1-2 W/kg when I’m a B.
Caveat - obv people do enter lower cats if they want an easier ride, but don’t think that was @PCP’s question
Interesting. I’d always assumed the opposite.
I have no idea how hard I’ll be riding until about 5 mins into the race when I see what group I get in, so I’ve always gone with FTP.
