I managed 30 minutes CBA, but that chuffing Kickr, not sure what was going on but it didn’t feel like 200W
Hopefully the Wattbike won’t be long and I might get outside again at the weekend.
Watt sort of whatage were the Ribble riders pumping out?
Think the Evo rides are pretty well run but draft does seem to be playing up a lot currently.
Tough ZRL night in. Don’t think I’d fully recovered from the UP on Saturday as no real snap in the legs. Managed 11th having been well positioned heading into the finish.
Been a great event and some good craic with the other teams.
Think we will give it a rest over the good weather but come back again for the winter series. Would really recommend putting a TriTalk team together if you can get the interest.
How did you get on @TROSaracen @stenard @Matthew_Spooner @Daz
Good job my meeting ran over and I didn’t start! I was all prepared and had to go and switch off the pain cave. I was a sad and lonely figure in the pen all on my own!
Boot up your zwift early today if you’re on android, pc or mac
It was our team’s and certainly my worse race of the series. I am not a sprinter, and knew it would be tough, but thought I would be able to help the team pulling them back after the sprints.
I was expecting the sections between the sprints to be easy, followed by a mad dash for the sprints, what transpired was almost TT effort between sprints followed by a mad dash for the sprints. Every lap the lead group got smaller and smaller, first lap we had 70, after the first sprint was down to 55, then 45 etc, so by the final spint we were down to 35. I think I came in 15th place on 3 sprints, but only points for top 10
On the final climb up Libby Hill, I timed my sprint wrong, or maybe my legs refused to work, and came in a woeful 31st place
I am learning a lot about myself from these races. Give me a nice climb or TT, and I will churn out miles at my VO2 Max and destroy most of the field, however, once I go into the red I really struggle to recover before the next effort.
They were soft pedalling, I was blowing a gasket
I was doing 3.2W/kg, so about 280W.
Fun little “FTP” session
I’ve passed Geraint Thomas going up the Epic KoM once upon a time, too (it was the day after he’d dislocated his shoulder)
To get some idea of what it was like, watch from 11:30min - 13mins … 10.5w/kg on sprint, then 6.5w/kg to get back onto the lead group after sprint
They’re messing about with it, that’s why:
Yes as a lighter rider I’ve found some of the hard rides pretty brutal on the flats.
Sounds like a tough night Matt. Similar to my experience (except with a lot less watts ). Kept coming 11/12th in sprints and needed to sprint each time to hold onto the front group which whittled down. Sprinters in our league then seemed to dominated the finish also.
Good TTT course for you guys next week?
As Matt says it was probably our worst night. We did well on the FTS, and bagged some FOL. Enough to keep us in good contention. But our finishing has always been a bit of a problem compared to the big teams. THIS is why we have to get those prime pts in the bag, to give us a chance overall.
Our sprinters struggle with the pack pace, and will fall if it’s too high. Leaves only a few diesels to fight it out with 30+ strong riders from other teams in the sprint.
WTRL/Zwift f-ed up again. One of our riders didnt show on results, despite files and a strava activity to show he did. WTRL will of course do what they do with other teams - ignore it and blame Zwift.
It means team lose a pt on the night. On top of that ZRL have not added pts up correctly and have taken away another team pt. So instead of being a comfortable 7pt ahead of 3rd in the division going into the final week…we are just 4. And if the result is the same as the first TTT, then we could well miss out on promotion.
As a manager/team captain it’s quite infuriating.
My speed last night wasn’t what I’d expect for the power is holding, I was going much faster than I’d expect.
Second Zwift Duathlon done. First place on TT again, covered 28km in 35mins, set a new FTP of 371w (5.6w/kg) 10 mins in transition then onto run. Started at 17kph (3:30/km) decided after 700m that it was too fast, so dropped to 16, slowly ramped speed back to 17 and finished with a 20kph, 30s sprint. 4.3km in 15 mins @ 3:35/km… carried on to finish 5k in 17:58 for a new 5k PB.
I’m amazed I managed to run full speed after setting a new FTP. I am so looking forward to racing IRL.
Nice. Also did the Duathlon, currently still tempo-ing rather than full gas racing it.
Still makes it a solid training session, and doesn’t compromise Tues/Thurs racing.
If I had a treadmill available I’d give a full on race effort a go. If I could see myself in the run race I’d think of sacrificing one of the other race days to give it a real go.
Hope they sort the results part out, as it’s a fun event
@NickBerry @Poet
If I came last in this would I still get some points?
I thought it was a stacked event last time I did it… its mental now!
40 odd riders under 200 ranking!
I haven’t come last in my previous 2 Cat A races, and haven’t scored anything
Ahgggg, that hurt. Crit race. I was all over the place, and so was my power meter. At one point I was sprinting to stay on the group but only outputting 0.8 to 1.2 w/kg then it comes back, i get back on but completely fooked. Think my race avg watts is going to be high as I had to hammer the whole freaking race, as it was up and down all over, and by the time the finishing sprint came up I was pedalling squares with not much increase in power, but with legs that hurt and still do. Hey-ho, until next time.
