Cat A Haute Route 8am tomorrow.
It was good knowing you all…
Just suffered through the BC 17K TT, went with Cat B. 25:20’ish I think. Decent hard effort and the Kickr actually behaved itself, but still not a keen on the resistance change for the hills.
Legs were getting fried towards the end and the power dropped off, but a 20 minute block at 288W is a bit of an improvement I think, 282AP
I only got a 2 minute warmup and then realised I was on a road bike instead of the P5 , not like me to cock up a race
Out of action for past couple of days, vaccinated today so could be another few days.
I like the racing but I need to do some train8bg for the time trial season!
What cat’ do you all ride in zwift?
@Duckhen i was vaccinated Monday 17:45, hour easy when I got home, Zwift workout Tuesday morning, race (Zwift Duathlon ) Weds Eve.
Good to see some A+ riders. Serious wattage and pain.
Not a perfect system with different power meters and trainers effecting results together with honesty on weight and other inputs. But, it’s a game and a training tool.
Myself, I’m classed as A+ with my system and weight. Its freaking hard, but in zwift, we don’t have to think about balance, the roads, potholes, wind, other riders, skill and so on, which probably explains why my power on zwift is a bit higher than real life, even when using the same power meter.
Ha I did that one last night.
Yes I think there were 12 signed-up (not including last minute) that were under 100 ranking. I struggled but did what I normally do in these races, try and hold on at the back and only push if I think it’s stretching to a point the blob will snap.
I moved up closer to the front on the last lap. Problem with that is I’m on the limit the whole way so by the time I get to the sprint I have no legs. But usually if you can dig deep you go with ‘the flow’. Top24 all within 1sec of each other. I was in the middle with 12th.
Think I got 116 ranking pts for it. A place or two higher and it would have increased my world ranking.
In these races you can be top3, then 50th in the blink of an eye at the finish line.
It doesn’t hurt if you fall off indoors through effort or crash either so you can go a bit harder.
Today I had a look at my ranking. First time I’ve taken any note of it. 241.71 with no idea if I’m heading up or down.
Where did you go @leahnp ?
I ended up in a small group that got shelled out early on. Ended up 47/65 in A Cat.
Haute route stage 1, and my first race in Cat A. Predictably shelled early but got a nice 4/5 group to TTT with and we pretty much stayed together.
37th, not sure how many overall - 90 cat As on the grid, 70 off finished but only 50 odd on Zpower.
3.6w/kg for 1hr 39mins.
I expected to get shelled on the Haute stage…but not by over half the field in the first 2minutes!!
Jungle was relentless, going down worse than up.
Didn’t settle till the epic.
53rd on road outta 160. 49th on zwiftpower missing out on top half 🤷
Also 3.6wkg…1:34 (I grabbed any opportunity for recovery)
My Mac decided to restart mid ride. I pushed hard at the start with 6.8wkg and it was starting ease off and then the world went black.
I had no motivation to ride after that
Redemption tomorrow then, Epic KOM both ways plus a radio tower, with Zwift KOM both ways between. I’m going for 9am start.
It’s prompted me to ride outside
Well done to those doing the HR. Had good intentions but several late work days and good weekend weather made me opt for snooze and a beer whilst watching film with the family this evening.
Aiming to get outside Saturday and Sunday so probably won’t make any of this now.
Ooo, a cheeky little belated 12.13 gain from yesterday’s handicap!
I assume handicap results are across the line, and not on how quickly people rode individually? As loads of well placed C Cat riders.
Haute route stage 2. A bloodbath. Cracked on the Radio tower and never really recovered, which is not good with an hour’s racing and another epic KOM to go.
Think i need to think of stage 3 as a proper race, with prep and a nutrition/hydration plan.
What do you reckon for stage 3? 2:30ish depending on effort up the Alpe?
