Too much time in Z3/Z4 this week so I’ve opted for a group ride this morning with a climb at the end so I can put into it as much effort as I feel like when I get to it.
Yeah, same. I’m doing just a no drop group ride this morning. Need to take it easier
+3, and I had a good 9+ hours of sleep, I’ll be alright when I get up but will probably just do an easy run and might do tick off one of the shorter loops later, very easy.
Rest day, today. Will aim to do a long zwift ride tomorrow and try to tick off one of the longer Watopia routes in the morning.
I was a bit broken on the TT today I held 4.0WKG for the race but after the Z3 set done yesterday on Innsbruck with erg mode I just had nothing. The top guys were aiding 5.5-6 WKG again.
Had similar yesterday on the Bologna course, someone averaged 1166w to do it in 8 minutes
It’s fairly easy to ignore the unlikely times.
Big day for me.
10 minute warm up, calibrated the kickr, then set off on a RAMP test. FTP came back at 273. Exactly the same as I already had from last summer. I feel good about that as my previous score was between Challenge Roth and IM Wales, and I was in really good form then, so 4 weeks of indoor riding has got me back to my previous peak. Now that I don’t swim or even run as much, I reckon I can hit 285 by end of lock down, which would be over 4wkg (weight fluctuates between 68-70, currently at 70).
Then after a 10 minute rest I hit the Alpe.
SMASHED IT!!!
Previous best was 66:55…
I am a hot mess right now!
Nice!!!

Nice one on getting those Lightweights
How many times have you been up there?
I think 3 times in the past month, although I think I stupidly quit before crossing the line last weekend like a total numpty. I think I climbed it a few times in the past. I have been on Zwift for a very long time, but I use it in little bursts. I am at 49k of 50k towards the Tron bike so I certainly climb a fair bit.
It was just pure luck today, unless maybe the odds change when you go under 60?
Not sure. I think your chances of the helmet, gloves are greater than pulling the wheels
I think I’ve only been up it 4 times and got gloves every time
4hr group ride for me. It felt like I was taking it easy, which HR would support. Largely z2. Yet AP came out at 167w, which is 3w higher than my IM bike split.
Really encouraging, as I held a 90min solid block at 180-190w in the middle as part of a mid-ride workout, and then was easily pushing over 200w for reasonable lengths of time in the final hour. Felt absolutely fine when I got off the bike. Could have comfortably kept going, but it was lunchtime.
I’d say a good 20w higher power output could be feasible in an IM bike split right now, which is a positive development of being stuck indoors
But none of us would finish the swim
Or run very far
Just hit 4.0w/kg for the first time in a race (Crit City)
Toasty!
Ticked off the Uber Pretzel, this morning, with a coffee stop at 2hrs #keepingitreal
I did the Richmond Classic, 2 laps in Cat B, was a bit tired so fairly steady, 271AP. And rounded it up to 40K for the marathon badge.
Think there’s about 2 races left in the series, finishing next weekend.
Bollocksed up my badge work this morning. Did 39.4km and 9 laps of volcano route. Could have got a couple of badges if I carried on.
The race was 33K so I thought I’d pootle round for the last 7k but was getting a bit hungry and uncomfortable by then.
