Gonna try the Kiss@ one. 42km, so I guess that’s an hour and a quarter or so? I’m gonna go in Cat C I think, and see what happens. Zwiftpower finally starting to pull stuff through. Well one race, but didn’t recognise my ftp ramp test.
In erg 11% on screen feels like 11% on the turbo as you have to move through the gears and makes it ‘realistic’. I make sure all my rides are in erg to get the most out of them.
I think the point Jgav was making is that’s sim mode. Erg mode is what you do in workouts where the trainer adapts resistance to hold you at a set wattage regardless of your cadence.
We’ll see I guess, but based on your recent power numbers, I’m predicting you get DQ’d in cat C!
Only seeing this well after you’ll have started. Had I seen it beforehand I would have definitely said go Cat B.
Wasn’t it only yesterday you were doing a 2x20 set at 260ish watts? That has you at about 3.5w/kg so well above the DQ level. I’m almost certain you’ll have a stint of effort in that race that will breach the Cat C caps
EDIT - I see you’re actually listed as a cat C on zwiftpower, so fair enough! You are currently third though (half way in), behind two sandbaggers!
Edit2 - 3.3w/kg average for over 1hr20 says to me I was correct, even if you do manage to scrape a placing! If you do, you’re going to win as the two above you will get DQ’d with UPG!
It is a weird one. I’ve not ridden much there, so haven’t got bored of it yet, but with no variety in scenery I cns see it getting a bit dull quickly. Why they didn’t open up central park and have routes going off into the city, I can’t understand.
They also demonstrated they don’t need things to be “accurate” with London, where you can conveniently reach the Surrey hills in a couple of km!
I’m still very much finding my feet. I finished 8th, way down from the guys above me. I pretty much spent the ride solo, or with one other guy (up until the last lap).
I forgot I did my 2 x 15 just yesterday lunchtime, so that was tough! Legs were like jelly coming back up to the house. 240w avg over 1hr 20mins. So about 94% ftp.
I’m not too fussed on being dq’d etc. I just want a solid workout and the races help to mix it up. That one guy dropped me on the 2nd lap so I worked hard to chase him down and then drive a wedge between us.
Few easy days now though cos my arse is in bits. 1.5 hrs in the saddle is hardcore for me right now!
Is that moer to prevent chaffing? That’s not the prob o’ve got right now, it’s just my seat bones aren’t yet used to the pressure. It’s much better than a week ago, but being over an hour whilst working hard the entire time pushed me a bit. I’ve never used cream in the past, when training for IM etc.
Started trying to collect the route badges now, going to save the 4 horsemen until last
What was that website where you can log the completed ones? Complete pain having to start a ride just to go see what you’ve done, then exit out and start again on the correct route.
Yes, and sweat accumulation / dampness getting into the skin. The Brick Session podcast had quite a decent section on the benefits of using it this week.
I didn’t use chamois creme for quite a few years, but couldn’t imagine being on the turbo for prolonged periods now without it.
