Yeah, easy pootle for me as well
Tapering for tomorrow
Yeah, easy pootle for me as well
Tapering for tomorrow
No idea what’s wrong with me
Pulling over 5 w/kg there to finish
I decided not to contest the sprint for 165th partly because I can’t do 10w/kg
Lol yeah. Everyone’s power flashed orange around me. I made them work for it though
Think I was about a minute up the road in the end there Jeff
The problem with Zwift is that all of us with a decent FTP for our Cat, can never get away from the lardies in the pack, unless there’s a sustained 5%+ climb. So we just get mullered in the sprint.
And those buggers can’t run off the bike either
This is so true.
I made up around 100 places up the main climb on the dirt track. Nothing spectacular; just sat around ftp
Haha, yes and here was me thinking you were easing up and I might find you
Has my eye out for you
Nice @fruit_thief … Reckon that’s cost you your Cat B status
Oi! I resemble that comment
Thanks, still B I think. But you are right, danger lurks in short TTs. Will avoid. Definitely don’t want to get sentenced to another 3 months of being “last A” in every race. That was proper demoralising.
It was a flat 20km TT which I actually found ok. Started at target power and by halfway realiswd there was a little more in the tank.
Bit did a hill climb TT the other day and it felt much harder, power was lower. So kind of the opposite of what you are finding I think. Which is weird because I assume we have similar physiology - and of course identical kit
@mw22 - for me, IRL, I’m good on the flat and anything up to about 6-7%, I can just grind it out.
I set my BEST EVER 20min power going up Skye Road from Dovestones to Saddleworth (Holmefirth) and it felt “easy”
But in Zwift, my speed on anything greater than 3-4% gradients does not match my real life speeds at all.
Just gotta roll with what the game gives ya!
It’s real life which counts
Yeah not bothered speed. Happy that’s just a made up algorithm with many factors playing a part (be it on zwift or IRL).
It’s the power. And in a controlled environment like zwift, where nothing changes other than the resistance - why do I have more watts available going “uphill”??
I’m probably talking bollocks (I’ve had a few) it must have something to do with the inertia of the turbo flywheel.
You come to climb in Zwift - the resistance kicks in - you stand up on the pedals - push with your weight - get big numbers
It works for the game - but irl you’re going nowhere
Spooner is a master of it. Low cadence, out of the saddle, huge numbers. Zwift will have you motoring. You would last five minutes out on the flat road
ETA - that’s not a slight on Matt btw
This is what I think it is, just not sure the why.
Here’s the thing, I’m doing everything seated now, Inc sprinting.
My legs just implode if I stand.
Are you using the same source of power for both IRL and Zwift? If not then may be worth checking the Zwift source is kicking out the right amount of watts by doing a dual recording with a reliable PM?
I am lighting zwift up right now.
Holding 150w has never been so difficult! I just couldn’t stay inside any longer. So thought a gentle 30 min spin won’t do any harm (hopefully). Thought I was feeling a lot better this morning (which I deffo am) but got absolutely knackered and short of breath sorting through the washing basket!
Patience GB, patience.
Gutted as its my annual Xmas ride with a couple of mates this week. Planned a nice 100km round my way this year. No way I’m going to make that.
What an idiot here. Couldn’t resist digging in on the Innsbruck climb during a random race. There was a group of 6 riders & I knew that getting over the top with the group was the key to not losing stacks on time on the descent. Forgot it was almost 20 minutes long. Crossed the rubicon: now in cat of doom.
Didn’t even get any Zwiftpower points, DQ from B results presumably going up the hill. Pushed all the way to the end as well, the group split up at the bottom of the descent & I found myself on the right side of the split. Would have been worth a few points I reckon
Doh.
Doh:
Hahahaha
Told ya it was coming!!
