Virtual Zwift Rides

Oh dear, congrats on the FTP boost though. Do you think the new turbo is making things better to hold these efforts?

You need some sandbagging tips of MW22 :joy:

Yes I think so Jeff. HR is lower than for wheel on although power is the same. Genuinely the same, I dual recorded with power meter to check. I don’t know why this should be. On wheel-on I was only using 1 gear, now am changing through the gears all the time, perhaps that’s part of it? Dunno.

How @mw22 is still a B?? Master of the bag of silicon oxides

Wondering about wheel slip but if you are measuring at the pedal on your old turbo it shouldn’t be that?

Definitely using the gears might help if you are keeping a more natural cadence. I wasn’t keep on the Kickr for these reasons but did start getting more used to it and the gears by the time the Wattbike returned.

But I just like the sturdiness of the Wattbike, no flex or wobble as our combined weight is causing structural problems for the concrete garage floor!

Concrete floor? Luxury. My turbo is on old oak joists and a lath and plaster ceiling :flushed:

I can recommend some nice mats

Hessian mats? They might slip around, I guess you could fill them with something for a bit of ballast :wink:

@mw22 it looked like your wife joined the Herd race yesterday (initial E?) but didn’t finish? I was looking forward to a throw down

No wasn’t her. She was pootling around with Coco for a change!!

I think the only throw down she’d ever contemplate would need to involve the Alp… At least once.

Yeah, I’ve tried that, but the turbo seems to mysteriously “work” whenever I dual record :frowning:

Also, the other source is a pedal, so whenever I freewheel, my power drops to 0W instantly.

The guy who gave me the latest turbo said yesterday that his new direct drive was immediately about 40W higher

Evo Vamos group ride for me this evening. Intervals based around the volcano circuit. Managed a 4:50.6 for the flying lap at the end holding onto some monsters.

It’s a great 90min group ride which will really challenge the higher end B’s and low A’s. No ranking points on offer  but would recommend it.

Great route that stage 4 Neokyo one :+1:t3:

Absolutely ace overtaking all the Tron bikes on my Canyon Lux MTB up the main hill

Did you switch bikes or ride the whole thing on MTB?

I switched to a Canyon Grail for the Temple KOM last night, you fly past people on road bikes it’s great fun

Switched bikes - my change up was rapid (CTRL+A, ESC, CTRL+T), but I changed going downhill (not just before), so that change was awful.

Like Rob says, it’s brilliant sailing past the Tron’s at about 15% less W/kg

Yeah it’s a tricky change into the Temple KOM as you’re going quite fast into the start of the KOM

Some recommend weeks off training if you have Covid because it does funny stuff to us. Don’t push it too early as the long term implications are not worth it.
