First go. Cat D just to see what it was about. And that was hard enough! Didn’t help that I realised at the end of the ride I’d forgot to switch the fan on. I wondered why I was cooking
I can see what you all mean about it teaching you a different kind of hurt! 237w AP for just over 28mins. Need to work out on desktop TP what my NP was as the data below includes a bit of a cool down
Cat C is where a lot of sandbaggers go to so don’t be surprised that even if you hold 3.2w/kg technically the upper limit for the category that you’re no where near the podium.
So after 1 race, am I correct that unless I ride in cat B going forward, I’ll just be a DQ on zwiftpower? Seems a bit ridiculous if, from memory, people like @Matthew_Spooner only moved up to that category a short while ago??
I do now get what people say about zwift though. Just that first race is a 20min best for both the current and prior year
I believe your results just won’t appear in Zwiftpower if you race in the wrong cat. Your a cat B rider it’s about right and you should race in cat B races. B riders racing in C and D is the problem with c and D. Zwiftpower filters that do you can see where you should properly finish. You can see everyone’s FTP and weight, cheaters stand out.
I think Zwift power uses a min of 3 races before it enforces a category… so its probably saying you raced at Cat B levels, but not requiring you to be Cat B just yet.
As others have said, Zwift power isn’t essential (but more important if you want to race series)
Zwift on my phone today as kids were streaming on laptop. Wow, it uses a lot of battery! I had already had the 10 & 3% warning and expecting it to die before I finished the race; but who should come out to the garage, but my daughter. Rapidly dispatched to the kitchen for a fast charger, back out, into extension lead, lead onto laptop holder…saved!
You should ride in the category zwiftpower recommends. Once or twice I went down a category, but then my results were deleted. Also, if you park your ego, it doesn’t matter where you finish as long as you had fun and got a good session.
Today I prioritised a family walk through some woodlands. Literally only passed one other group of people. Tomorrow (Sunday) is Zwift for me. I may do my first race in 7 months. I will get owned!
After years of mocking Zwift, it looks like I might have to turn to it - can’t see our current freedom to ride outside will last longer than a couple of weeks.
So today, outside , 90 mins tempo @ 227W = 84% of FTP. 3.05w/kg - favero bepro pedals
On turbo - TT bike , tunnel set up position - probably looking at same effort 10W less than that. (favero assioma )
Am I right in thinking that if I was racing I’d be in different categories depending upon which nike was attached to the turbo ?
Too may people still out meeting in groups. Good effort to socially distance by most but alas some can’t be told and think it’s no worse than regular flu
