Yes, there was an update last week iirc. My laptop did it yesterday, as it was first use for a few weeks.
Yep… looks like the IOS app was updated 6 days ago… and I don’t think i’ve used Zwift on IOS in that timeframe… maybe i’ll stick to the laptop until there’s a bit more certainty whether this version is stable or not, as at least those drop outs are power loss, not crashes or major FUBARs… it was bloody frustrating losing that race at that point!
3 seconds to go before the start of the Fast Friday Tempus Fugit TT and my flux BLE disconnects. I’m spinning and nothing is happening. Jump off more swearing and pull the power cable out and ram it back in get back on the bike and furiously start clicking the sensor connect. 2 mins later I’m racing and raging. Still 11th overall and 4th Vet but my HR was over 140 before the start.
I’m ‘thinking’ of having a crack at one of the ‘Hors Bidon’ rides. Any suggestions, anyone done them?
Anyone else find it ironic that Canyon, who tell owners not to use their carbon bikes on trainers, are all over the Zwift advertising!
IIRC, Canyon have rolled back a bit on that stance… and now said that bikes from a certain date onwards are fine on turbos… but don’t hold me to it!
Right…I’ve found my printer cable and used that to update my trainer firmware to FE-C, so I can now get the resistance stuff.
But then this happens

(Let’s ignore the fact it’s 24 degrees outside)
Time for 3 beers there!
Or a run, but I prefer the “doing naff all” approach
I don’t buy that for a minute.
DIRT Dadurday Chase Race in the B category.
I had ridden outside at 7:30am today, just an easy effort gravel ride in the morning sun, but of course, it all takes its toll on the legs. After a rest and some homemade sourdough pretzels with cheddar, I was back on the bike for a Zwift race.
The concept of the Chase Race is that the categories are released in reverse order, with a time gap between. It helps calm down the ridiculous sprint off the line at least one notch, and it gives you a hare to chase.
I was in the Bs as always, and logged on 25 minutes early to spin the legs and do a few sprints to get the blood flowing. It also made me second in the pen, so assured of getting the front group.
The race itself was fun. Just over 41 minutes of FTP effort. My FTP is 272, and my NP was 271. Gives you an idea that I was blowing a gasket by the end. Actually, I may have lay on the floor for 5 minutes after the race.
The race itself was fun. Got in the front group of 14 (of 62) and we stuck together until 8km from the end. The As did catch, but it was a small group and while a few made it through and past, one stuck with us. However this was also the (expected) catalyst for our own breakaway. Two went with the As, and while they couldn’t stick with the As, they did gap us. We worked well and about 5 minutes later we caught them back.
Then it was the usual dig with 3km to go, and one of the same earlier breakaway guys managed to catch us sleeping as we passed a group, and boom he was gone. He dragged a few with him, but it was a splintered line and I was just not able to hold the 350 watts for 30 seconds or so it would have needed to bridge. Then I vomited a little in my mouth, settled in, and waiting for a little group to reform from the remnants.
4 of us in the end, I think in 4-7th place in the Bs. I came 5th (6th in game, 5th Zwiftpower) with a reasonable dig to the line. to hold off at least a couple of sprinters who were gaining fast.
DESTROYED!
Bonus photo of my morning steed:
I cleaned the downstairs windows, watered the outdoor plants, polished the indoor plant leaves and pissed about on TriTalk…
Productive day! I fell asleep on the sofa!
That was just waiting for Zwift to DL
also touched up the master bathroom, went To buy and book the wood flooring material and fitting, took a 2hr walk through the Bollin Valley and cleaned the car…
ETA: Five minutes done.
Bike/floor isn’t level, which is annoying, but nothing a bit of wood screwed into the riser won’t fix
FE-C auto-resistance works, so that’s pretty much a dream on not changing gears now.
But…I still don’t get it

I don’t get what you don’t get?!
Not clear (to me at least) what the above was in reference to?
Me and Zwift - I just don’t “get it”
I’m going to give it (yet another) go…
I didn’t get it either… This is my 3rd attempt, but something clicked this time.
Initial attempts were just races, all balls out, no idea what was going off, no understanding of the game detail (like the art or drafting).
I’ve been a sufferfest user for about 7 years, but with the lockdown just wanted to ride without so much structure.
So this time I’ve been doing the routes, understanding all the detail, the worlds, the climbs, what kit unlocks when.
Then I did a few races, got in some fun battles (its when you eventually group up in a race, or ride and notice the same names around you (bigger tv made a big difference here) and found it all so much more engaging.
Not sure what I’ll do next winter, tho I’ve yet to try a workout in zwift, so will see if that gives me the structure and motivation like sufferfest did.
I seem to have gone the other way. Used to use Zwift just as a training tool; no races or group rides, no ‘just riding’ or course PB chasing.
I had a structured plan from Trainer Road and would execute that, doing some rides on Zwift by replicating the workout either as a close group workout or I’d build the TR session as a custom workout.
But with no real racing on the horizon I seem to have got the racing bug, 2/3 a week. Started with just TTs, now trying some drafting races. It’s getting me to go a little deeper, if not quite as deep as a real race. Also meeting mates occasionally for meet ups or joint training sessions such as fast/slow volcano laps. Not much structure, seems pointless tbh, until there is a proper goal.
Suspect when this ends it’ll be some sort of hybrid between the structured approach and the current.
Just do what @stenard does and run a trainerroad program but with zwift pedalling in the background. Tick off routes and mileage and drops, but with the structure of TR. then complement it with some racing and easy ‘social’ rides on zwift.
