The only similarity between Matt’s screen and mine at that stage when I did it is the lack of socks, and the distance and elevation
He finished with a spurt at 500+ watts. Madness
Early zwift power results have Matt in the lead by over 40s, with a 5.5w/kg ride, and AP of 375w

How I didn’t throw up after that I don’t know.
Happy with second though
Still showing as first on zwiftpower?
First ride in about six/seven weeks for me
Good point…had forgotten you’d said you’d not been doing much at all
Even better, sometime Zwift leaderboard gets confused
That’ll be a new FTP too
Your FTP is about 356W, then?
Mine is a paltry 225W (I’d guess) at the minute, based on that effort.
I maintained 170bpm throughout, probably do 175-177bpm for an evening 10TT.
ETA: Peak 20 minute indoor HR is 186bpm.
New FTP 359W
@stenard - You were right about the fan

Got to go to Screwfix for some bits on the way to Tesco at some point, so will see what industrial wall mounted options they have
Also, you mentioned a dehumidifier, which I have also.
It’s set to 50% downstairs, which felt way too dry, so trying for 60% for my next “effort”
Although I’ve now prepped the BMC ready for when it’s dry again outside…
…ETA: 46 days since I last rode a bike
You were right about the fan
I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again.
Fans are for whimps!
I had 2 fans both set to full power
Yeah I thought about waiting as I’m only one ADZ ride away from completing the Everest Challenge and getting the Emonda, but given how MOP I am in TTs I can’t see myself being that arsed about upgrading on that front so treated myself
I think I now have about 2 drops! Shame there’s no second hand market in Zwift yet.
Both set to 200W?

I’m doing the tour for all at 6:10, short version C, but for 3.2+
Anyone else?
Those numbers are awesome Matt. How did you get so strong on the bike?
Different sport but a friend I run with with improved year on year to become #35 M50 in the RunBritain rankings. He did it over a few years and reckons it’s all about consistency. 50 miles per week, week in week out, probably at an average pace of around 4m20s per km. Obviously he had the raw talent to begin with. Is it the same with cycling?
Is it the same with cycling?
I’m not answering for Matt, but…
…maybe @Hammerer / @pacha can explain more.
As I understand it, the BTF elite squad ask for something like a 5:00/400m swim and 16min 5km to get in.
You don’t even need to be able to ride a bike.
For proof of this, you only need to look to LCB.
Super strong (admittedly near Olympic) OW swimmer, who couldn’t cycle, who then won her AG in Kona a year later.
Rowers: Any rower coming to cycling is usually a beast. Running? I’ve seen Cracknell run in real life ![]()
(he still beat me)
FWIW: I don’t think to run a 75min half or 2:40 marathon takes any “special talent” just to catch it when you’re young enough.
