Point taken, however, this guy raced early April at 70kg, nothing for 4 weeks, then pops up at 64kg (could have been sick of course). In Jan, Feb, March, he was regularly racing Cat B, MOP with AP in races around 210-220w, suddenly pops up in Cat A after 4 weeks break, and wins race with 293w AP, with a sprint of 11.5w/kg for 30s.
Hey mate be good to see you there tomorrow morning. Make sure you get a good warm-up, we all start together so worth going bit harder to stay with front as long as poss.
Didn’t know there was a thread for Zwift riding, racing on here! Great.
I take eracing quite seriously, and spend most of my training around it. Obviously used to be all about triathlon for me, but 2 years on zwift and I’ve morphed into a different kind of athlete lol. I love it
The lock down has done strange stuff to the Tritalk community. A pretty big group of us now ride on Zwift
Going to do a recce of the Astoria 8 Line this afternoon. Its not a course I have raced on much recently so need to refresh my memory and see where the lead pack will be attempting to split the pack
Nice punchy course, one of my favs. Try not to be too far back in this race if drafting.
Right, yesterday I’d not ridden a bike in 46 days, so wasn’t expecting the world.
Today I went out in the real world and the difference from yesterday is truly shocking:
easy outdoor ride today, with one hill, some headwind and lots of downhill and white van drafting…
1hr
27.9km
222W NP
140bpm
Yesterday’s Zwift TT ride…
30 minutes
17.7km
220W
169bpm
HELP!!!
Why the hell is Zwift a million miles away from my real life efforts???
Heat - is your fan good enough?
Power meters the same I presume?
What turbo are you using?
You also said your fan was rubbish and you overheated.
None of this is to do with zwift. They would apply to any indoor training platform you might use. All zwift is doing is taking a power number it is provided with. I can’t recall … have you done much indoor turbo training since your return to tri last year?
Power meters the same, yes.
Turbo is a BKool Classic, with FE-C, so now adjusts to the gradient etc.
I had the setting at 20-30%.
Fan is diabolical.
I’ve done about three indoor sessions. Ever. At home.
WattBike at the gym is/was a dream!
They let me put my own pedals on and away I went.
Can also do decent treadmill sessions without overheating (again, at the gym)
Is it really as simple as a fan???
Always a tailwind in Watopia
Your in game avatar will be aero AF too…
You can get a decent fan for well under £50; nothing for a man of your means.
Been thinking of that fan @stenard got…
…he said it “was a game changer”
Today was supposed to be a rest day, then I noticed that Julian Alaphilippe was featuring on a ride up the Alpe. New PR 39:31 up the Alpe, and another 1st place
Julian was supposed to be taking it easy up to turn 10 and pushing the second half. On the last 2 turns I could see his little yellow dot a couple of turns behind me… fortunately I managed to stay ahead.
Saw a Guy get DQ’ed, he passed me doing 9+ w/kg, then a few turns ahead I saw a red stop sign appear next to his name, then he disappeared.
I’d make sure you’re pretty serious about your turbo before dropping £200 on a fan
Think of Zwift as a different type of cycling. After all you can’t compare MTB with track or road cycling.
I just tried riding out of the saddle for a couple of minutes like Matt said, the power numbers certainly went up.
Did the 5.10 Tour for All, cat C/D the shorter route for less wonderful people. Managed to win the 6-up sprint for 15th, the high-point in my cycling career
Edit: now the results have been filtered all my sprint buddies have disappeared along with a few others, now sitting at 6th Cat C/D - all very odd
YOU FRICKING WHAT???
I’d not looked at the price - sweet Baby Jesus!
You can buy a car for that
DQ for too much sprint power and W/kg?
